It's been a disappointing season...and it likely will end quickly next week.
I've been a tad annoyed with some of the negative comments Crowley has said for public distribution this season. If he wants to rip his kids behind closed doors and peel off paint in the process, that's one thing. It's quite another to question and criticize his team's effort or hustle in print. Serves no useful purpose and is inappropriate. Perhaps these public rip jobs have contributed in some way to the Bonnies' subpar performance.
Players do read newspapers, Jim. Or didn't you know that?

Yep, he should just blow smoke their *@s! And that would serve no useful purpose, for sure. Players perhaps read the OTH, but I will bet $100 that Jim Crowley doesn't read the Bandwagon.

I see a first game win at the A10 Championship.
In spite of a dissapointing season, Bona goes in as the #12 seed & plays #13 seed UMass. We have beaten UMass twice this year by an average of 16 pts.

25% from field in 2nd half , 22% from 3pt and 50% from the line. They simply can't shoot!
There are positives coming from this team but in the end, you have to put the ball through the hoop!

What to expect in the third season....
Season 1: the OOC the team was 10-3. The expectations (at least mine) was for an excellent conference showing. 3-point shooting was a worry, but the combination of Richmond/Healy/Little was formidable inside.
Season 2: the conference results of 5-11 was abysmal. No cohesion, lack of intensity, something in the chemistry was lacking. They would have streaks where it looked as if they had turned the corner, but regression was the word. They never really got better, and there did not seem to be any leadership.
Season 3: The Conference championship. Can this team come out of no where and shock? Can this team win 5 straight to head into the NCAA tournament and become another 20 win team for Crowley? I hope so, but have very little confidence that this team can win 1 game (have beaten UMass 2 times, a 3rd is very difficult), but deep inside think they will come out fighting and make season 3 closer to season 1. Let's hope.
Historical reference: The men in 1963 finished 2nd in the NCIT tournament. This team had high expectations but floundered all season and finished at 12-11. Then in the tournament, they really showed their true colors. The won the first game, it was in Louisville to a national powerhouse, Regis (no not Philbin). Then came a tough opponent, Xavier, and the true colors came out, another loss, in the 4 team tournament we finish 2nd. This was a team showing their capability, this is what will happen starting Wednesday.

You rip Crowley for crawling all over his team and then you entitle your post "expect a fast ladies tourney exit"?? Oh ye of little faith.
Crowley knows what he's doing. Believe me, if he felt a need to go public, it's because nothing else worked.
The team has done a lousy job taking care of the ball. Teams - especially a Crowley team - don't win when that happens.
Expect the team to win its first game - then, anything can happen.

Deuce, they turn the ball over and they CAN'T SHOOT. So they beat UMass in a play-in, big whoop. Richmond will take them out on its home floor. These ladies don't have the stuff for a tourney run. Not this time.

OHS - go back and read my post - no where do I say they're playing good ball. You ripped Crowley for going public with his complaints about his team. I simply stated that he may be taking that approach because nothing else has worked. The guy knows what he's doing.....and you followed your rip of Crowley with a rip of the team with your "fast exit" comment.
Nothing was said in my post about a tourney run. I did say they win game #1, then who knows?
Oh, excuse me, you know.

Deuce, if a coach has to resort to those sort of tactics, then he is both desperate and weak. When I see comments like that, that tells me that his players have tuned him out. Whatever he's trying to sell, his kids aren't buying.
The last two months have been a mess. Little's time in the doghouse hasn't helped. And they just haven't put the pieces together to be a contending team.
Go back and read the post game story from the LaSalle game. In the presser, Crowley belittled and mocked his team. Those players present had to feel humiliated.
That crap can backfire on a coach... Crowley's league colleagues can use that bulletin board material as recruiting ammo, i.e. "Would you want to play for a coach who publicly rips his players in print when things don't go his way"?

bva...Glad you pointed out how incredibly well the frosh cared for the ball. Our BIGS have been turn over machines with Hannah losing it every 8 mins.
15 TOs a game, hitting treys at 31% & having a -2.4 Reb Margin are the reasons for their struggles. Lately we are gettin killed on the glass. All due to reduced mins for Hannah & Gabby.
In recent games they have showed some improvement in taking better care of the ball and hitting some treys. Lets hope that trend continues.

P.S. -- You think I'm ripping the team? Heavens no. What I am saying is that we need to be realistic. Their chances of advancement beyond what can be called a play-in game vs UMass are remote.
There will be better seasons ahead for Bona. This one has been disappointing because they got off to a fine ooc start.
I look forward to seeing what McKenna Maycock can bring come fall. She and Ruff could make a very good backcourt duo.
