Is this the thread where we spitball ideas that should never/will not happen? I'd like to contribute! Let's schedule the Cleveland Cavaliers for a home and home, serve sushi and lobster at concessions stands, and have a beer torpedo chugging contest sponsored by Randy's Up The River at halftime.

If you think it is hard to recruit now it would be immeasurably more difficult if we were D2. To say it is a dumb idea is a tremendous understatement. And NOTHING would hurt recruiting more than goofballs on this board speculating about a move to D2 thats never gonna happen. What is the gang thinking when they write such garbage for prospective recruits and parents to read? DUMB It's one thing to have hypothetical conversations with people when you're sitting around in private. When you do it here, anyone in the world with access to the Internet an interest in Bona's could come across this nonsense, and start to think, "Oh, maybe that school isn't serious about D1 ..." There is no intention by anyone in authority of making such a change, which makes all of this conversation grade-A bullsh!t and a waste of time. Worse, it puts ideas out there that someone dropping in here might think are legitimate. Think before you throw around inane ideas. The world is watching.

If someone isn't smart enough to understand that some dudes on a free message board who are overly obsessed with the basketball program, hot dog to bun ratios, and a team name that hasn't been used in 20+ years are not making official proclamations on behalf of the University, they probably aren't capable of college level academic work and shouldn't be recruited anyway.
I don't think we have much to worry about here.
Also, I'm not sure anyone on this board has been seriously considering the move to D-II.

I went to meet the AD event in Rochester last night. I can tell you with 100% certainty that this conversation is completely irrelevant. He said that the University did look closely at where we stand in the universe of college athletics to see if we were in the right position. It was determined that, not only do we belong in D1, but the A10 is the place for us. Beyond that, they fully recognize that athletics is an important marketing tool and they the goal is to raise the profile of the program. That involves, facilities, scheduling, expanding where we recruit, exploring additional programs to add, etc. This is a University wide effort to work together to determine how to best utilize athletics as a marketing tool.
I know people have been wondering about the quality of the stream. That is being addressed. There will be a game in Rochester and a game in Buffalo every year moving forward. No opponent for this season yet, but it will be on a Saturday in January. They are still trying to make it work OOC, but if not they are working with the A10 on scheduling that game. They are already working with the BCA on the following season, so that they can get a premier date. For marketing for the game, they are going to expand out beyond just prospective students, CYO teams, etc, and work with people like guidance counselors, those that can have an influence on where a student might end up going.
Tim was a great hire. He is very personable, very enthusiastic, and I can see him being able to bring bucks into the program. He's only been on the job 6 weeks but he is already very passionate about the school and wants to deliver something great to the University to the Alumni. I think we are in very good hands!

My guidance counselor is the reason I went on a visit to SBU, marketing to them is definitely a good idea.

Great reaction from meeting Tim. Love to hear that. Just curious, did you ask about our attitude towards Canada and Southern Ontario? I've said for a while that we should consider playing a game in Toronto every now and then. Thinking out loud here, but we should continue to work with Cuse and have a home-and-home series where our "home" games are in Toronto (since they'll never come to the RC). It's a win-win for both programs.

When this thread started I was so pissed that someone would pose a hypothetical question like that. Recruits don't need to read it. This thread should be removed. Just dumb!

At least the title should be changed/edited, as that is what will cause this thread to show up in searches -- although I was for immediate removal upon coming across the thread as well.
