this talk about Marcus losing confidence is ridiculous..... we are a couple games in. he never stopped shooting. the confidence is there its just a matter of him finding his stroke. comes with time. he will be the least of any of our problems this year Ridiculous? Have you ever played basketball? Just because he kept shooting doesn't mean he had confidence. There's times when you're feeling it and times when you're not, and theres no getting around it. You try to play your game, but it just isn't working and it can really get to you after a while. You can see it in his play the past two games, especially last night, that he is finally feeling it. His aggressiveness has gone through the roof and he knows he can take just about anyone off the dribble with confidence. Those crossover and behind the back moves last night were incredible. Getting to the line and knocking down 19 of 19 the past two games shows he is getting to the hoop and opening up the outside shot. I agree that he will be the least of our problems this year. It was good to see all three freshmen on the floor together for extended minutes last night in a key point of the game. Woods is going to be a hell of a player and Kaputo is going to be special. Overall I though we played well as a team. Kept the turnovers down and got to the line and made our free throws. Hofstra should be a great game and another good test. i did play basketball and was absolutely horrible. but took my chances when i had them and thought id hit every shot. i doubt Posleys thinking is very different. Feeling and not feeling it is different than confidence. and this argument/conversation is stupid. we arent in his head. lets just hope the kid keeps doing his thang

Great foul shooting played an important factor in the last 2 wins where we scored 26 more points from the stripe than our opponents. Against the Griffs, the score was tied with 11:21 to play. 10 of 11 crucial FTs were made by 4 different players. Jay 2-3, Nelson 2-2, Dion 4-4 and Derrick 2-2 (he is 7-8 on the year). Not many teams in the nation have a TEAM FT% to match our 83%. Only 9 turn overs was real good to see and I would say that Marcus has restored any confidence he may have lost. I actually just checked and SBU is #2 in the nation in FT%. 82% to Oakland's 85%

Good win for the Bonnies - certainly won't ever discount a win, especially a win on the road. If we can avoid the 2 dreadful losses in the OOC schedule that has plagued this team over the past few seasons, that will be a huge boost come March. A few observations coming from the first few games of the year: 1) This one goes back to last season, as well, I'd like to see someone else pass the ball in during deadballs - Jay should not. 2) When Idris has the ball dribbling up the court with his head down, I want to scream...happens often when he's in the game 3) A little nervous that we "clicked" against Canisius and only won by 4....again, to Canisius (Posely big game, outrebounded them, low turnovers, held Golden Griffs to low point total) 4) Kuputo needs to be on the court under 4 minutes left in a tight game 5) Loved the changing defenses throughout the game. The 1-3-1 is, and has been over the past few years with Dion at the top, very effective 6) The team can rebound - even playing smaller than opponents. This will be huge as season continues 7) I'm comfortable with Woods and Griffin in the game - freshmen have a ways to go, but can play Big game against a hard playing Hofstra team coming up. Would be a solid win for the Bonnies - let's keep rolling! To your first point, I was wondering why Posely was inbounding the ball late in the game when they were fouling. You would think you want your best FT shooter to get the ball... maybe not as big of a deal on this team since we are shooting so well from the line collectively. Other than that, I think Posely and Jay inbounding the ball throughout the game is fine. It's often said that the most dangerous guy on an inbound play is the inbounder... especially when they can shoot it from deep.

I get your point, however on inbounds plays underneath, teams play a 2-3 and you'll have 6' 7''-6' 9'' guys guarding the inbounder. The text book says have the #3 on the floor take the ball out. I'd be very comfortable with Denzel inbounding the ball.

Good find. Apparently you missed the inbounds pass get stolen on multiple occasions at Syracuse....not to mention, Yousou's gone and was 7' tall. Now that it's been brought up, you'll begin to notice the issue at hand.

re the "3-25 comment", i'd like to revise it slightly to (what i think) would be to the approval of all of us "old alums": if the Lord tapped me on the shoulder and said "senator, your bonnies are gonna stink this year...as a matter of fact, they're only gonna win 3 games...but I'll let you pick the 3...what do you say?"...and my answer would be: that's easy, Lord...the 'cuse, canisius and niagara...

I guess from an "old - but not so old" alum's standpoint....I'd say the opening round of A-10's, Quarterfinals and semifianals....another Championship game appearance would be so so good....even if we did lose, because we can only have 3 wins says the Lord......

Nice win last night. Will look better as the year goes on as I think Can-o-sh*t will be a good team and do well in the MAAC. Don't know if this was mentioned upthread, but the call of a non-shooting foul when Jay drove to the hoop, was hacked, and made the shot, was one of the worst calls I have ever seen. Clearly a 3 point play and could have been very important if the Bonnies didn't finish strong. Not sure if it was just incompetence or a home job, but that call was brutal.

And the ref's arm didn't even go up until the shot was in, or close to in, the basket. I was afraid the call was going to be on Jay.

That awful call was made by Tyburski, who resides in PA. Kevin Furguson is the hometown ref, and Nate Farrell is from Albany. I do agree that apart from that one call, the game was well officiated.

Late in game they called Bona ball only to spend 5 mins a scorer table looking at video....Refs would have given me a heart attack if they over ruled that call.

I was not a fan of the refs last night, and I have been fine with them in all the games so far. I felt we attacked the basket just as much as Canisius, but didn't seem to get the same benefit of calls driving to the basket. I was very surprised it took us almost 16 minutes to get into the bonus in the second half.
I am also partial to the Bonnies so I can see someone saying I am full of it
