It seems forever since we played. This is the last year of the Lavon Long era, and we haven't won since he started at Siena. He was a kid that, as I remember, was being recruited by us, but ended up at Siena. His family member has posted on this board, and has for the last few years. Her son played against and I think with Jaylen Adams (they are both from Baltimore), and when Jay signed with us she posted on this board, that we got a real good player. Well this is the last match-up, and hopefully, a win for us. Look forward to hearing from "playerparentcoach" and her feedback on the Saints this year. Lavon Long (I really would have liked it if he would have been a Bonnie)..... www.sienasaints.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/lavon_long_851710.html

Letting Long go to Siena was a big mistake by the staff, one they usually dont make. We have to beat them at home and I dont see any reason why we wouldnt.

The Saints lost 81-72 to Brown's UA. Saw the first half & they played badly. Were down by 18 at the half but then put up 52 points the second half. Pulled within 4 late. Brown praised their starters as best in the MAAC.
Long was their top rebounder with 8. Took only 3 shots making 1. Went 8-8 from the stripe to end with 10 points & fouled out. Saving up all his shots for the RC. Gotta keep a body between him & the hoop.
Wright makes it all go for them. He had 18 & runs the offense which was totally missing the first half due in part to foul trouble.
Clareth looks for the trey a lot & was 4-11.
As bad as Siena played the first half they are good with the ball (11 TOs). Albany just shot real well 52% FGs, 50% treys & hung on at the end.

Thanks wgt. I sense an opportunity here. Bona must D up their bigs and at the same time play their trey shooters honest. Siena's balance is what makes them dangerous. If UAlbany could handle them on their home floor, I see no reason Dem Bonnies can't do the same.

Agree on their balance. They go 9 & 10 deep. No one on Siena plays iron-man mins like Jay & Matt

Tomorrow night begins a month of must-win games for the Bonnies, like it or not. Siena is a decent team, but they are won we must beat at home, no excuses. After that it's time to start a very long winning streak if we're to talk "bubble" again this season....(most likely)....More thoughts on all of that at the link below. bit.ly/2gtgZYUwww.thebonablog.com

Based on the numbers in the article, he has us at a 19% chance of winning the next seven games. In fact, he has it more likely that we pick up a loss in the Hofstra/UNCW games than we win both.

mlh, Point taken, I'm looking at it from a game by game basis, so my wording is likely a bit off. Point being we are/will be favored in each of these remaining non-conference games. Whether or not we will run the table remains to be seen, but Bonas will be "expected" if you will, to win each night out. Obviously that is easier said than done and so you're number of 19% chance of them doing that seems fair. www.thebonablog.com

It's not "fair" as such, it's merely the product of the individual game probabilities that kenpom calculates and you show on your blog.
(EDIT: I'm too lazy to manually run the numbers and I'm too old to remember how to write a macro in excel or otherwise program it but, from just looking at the numbers, I would guess that kenpom "projects" Bona to lose between one and two games, probably somewhat closer to two than one.)

Had this game as a loss before the season started. Doesn't matter if Siena is 6-0 or 0-6, Pastos and co. bring it when they play us. This series is reminding me a lot of how we played against Mihalic when he was at Niagara. Didn't matter how hot we were or how cold they were, they beat us.
Siena is a good team and they return a number of key players from a 20 win team last season. Even though they are 2-4, they will be in the hunt for the MAAC title.
