Thanks for the correction MLH. I took a quick look at the records and thought UNC-Asheville was the regular season champ. I think the Bonnies need 3 more wins to be in decent shape for the NIT, so it may not matter. In any case, go Winthrop!

If there are upsets in the one bid conferences, that will force some teams into the NIT.

When Mike's little brother was a soph in HS thoughts were he would be better than big brother but that was not the case.
Ar Wintrop he is 6ppg & 1-10 treys. At 6'5" he has hops but not the equal of Mike. I will always remember his 3 enormous offensive rebounds at Rose hill late in the game to steal a win.

Sucks because Monmouth and Belmont are both capable of winning a game in the NCAA.n How about what happened in the Horizon? Oakland and Valpo both get beat in the quarters by the 10 and 7 seeds. This is an underrated thing, playing a day before a team that had a bye. It is one reason I think we can surprise Rhody. It will hurt us the deeper we get but playing that 2nd day in a row when the other team has had 5 days off is a small advantage for us.

The 32 slots for the NIT are starting to fill up. Six teams already have automatic invites by virtue of being their league regular season champion that failed to win their NCAA bid. Illinois State still however has a chance for an NCAA at large and may not take a spot.

For us to have any real shot at the NIT, we need a big run that includes a win over Dayton. That would put us in the final in Pittsburgh.

It would be nice if Illinois St gets into the NCAA and opens up a spot

It would be nice if Illinois St gets into the NCAA and opens up a spot It's totally irrelevant to Bonas NIT chances as either Illinois St or the team they push out are both clearly ahead of us in terms of post season consideration.

Wichita St tied with Illinois State and is NCAA bound so if Illinois St get in the dance it opens a spot.

Wichita St tied with Illinois State and is NCAA bound so if Illinois St get in the dance it opens a spot. If Illinois St makes the dance, Rhode Island (or someone else) doesn't. Both Illinois St and Rhode Island (or Syracuse/Vanderbilt/etc) have a better NIT resume than Bonas so it has no practical effect on Bonaventure making the NIT. The only external effect on Bona making the NIT is teams whose current NIT resumes are close to ours losing (Richmond, Penn St, GW, Alabama, Colorado etc), teams that are below us, but would get autobids to the NIT (Vermont, North Dakota, UC Irvine, Princeton, Akron, NCCU, Bucknell, New Orleans, Texas Southern etc) to win their conference tournament, or clear one-bid league tournaments going to the one-seed (MTSU, Texas Arlington, etc). Leagues with two teams that are NCAA caliber (WCC/MVC) don't effect us. That said, to be realistically in the conversation we need to likely win tomorrow and beat URI and Dayton.

Depending who you ask, Illinois St is in the NCAA field. If they fall out, it could be because an unexpected takes an NCAA bid. Someone in a P5 who gets hot and is also not an NIT team. That was my point
