Kinda cool that Allegany and Olean worked their way into a song (though after listening to it, I think it is safe to say it won't be the hit that brings Seger back to prominence).
As for why he chose those two places, it may be just that he was looking for places he'd been to or whatever that fit the needs of the rhyming. The lyrics seem to be all geared toward fitting the rhyme to Promised Land (and Olean fits that nicely). He also has Alabam (really) and hands, sands, plans, understand, Framingham, and maybe some others. Wish the song was a little better. Cool anyway.

HaHa, Eddie Money made the list. He came out played two or three songs, announced there was a bomb scare, played one more song and walked off stage.

I saw robin Williams in '86!! Does anyone else rememeber the 15 min he did on Breakfast cereals? I believe he asked the audience what topic we would like to talk about and off he went! He was a true improv genius!! For the life of me I can not remember anything else from that show. Anybody else remember? I was there, but in the reds, pretty high up. You could hear his setup, but when he'd really be wound up for the punchlines, etc., all you could hear was the crazy laughter on the floor and in the bleachers. And, everybody around us not laughing, because we didn't hear it. Not great acoustics.

"Pure Pedigree League" never made it to campus. While the Pedigrees never did get to campus, the band members of Pure Prairie League did make it - but their equipment did not. I think it could not get thru due to the snow. Pretty sure I drank a few beers with them in the Skellar as they were stuck at Bonas with no instruments. Or they could have just been a bunch of long haired townies with mustaches and cowboy hats at the Skellar telling tales.

All I knew was the concert was canceled due to the snow storm. They were my favorite group at the time, and I would have loved to have seen / talked to them in the skellar. I wonder where we drowned our sorrows that night if not in the skellar?

not even close! Bruce Springsteen on his college tour Darkness on the Edge of Town. Was it Fall '78? How long did he play? 4-hours....was it the 4th encore with all of the lights on that he did some Beatles songs, some Stones songs.....a Pete Seeger song which became a permanent part of his concerts.... He finally finished either because he ran out of songs he knew or was terribly exhausted. He is also legend here in Copenhagen for playing songs solo with a guitar (borrowed from a street muscian) on the main walking (shopping) street during the day of his evening concerts....he also worked out at my training center...a hard core body building place where Arnold and a pretty well known Danish actor who was in Conan movie owned, (where I introduced myself as a fellow Jersey shore guy and former Stone Pony patron)..... and eating at my neighborhood Italian family restuarant..... Agree, Great Dane. I was just a year or so out of college. It was a kickass show of the highest degree. The E Street Band including The Big Man just rocked the RC that night. It was a portent of things to come for The Boss.
