Reports tonight that Sports Illustrated basically laid off most of its staff (I think basically the ones they were obliged to pay) and is probably on its way out of publication sometime soon. If you have the one with Lanier on the cover better hold on to itand do something to preserve it.Its value will soon be on the rise and not just to Bona fans. Wish I had grabbed one back in the day. At one time, a job with SI was at or near the top of the wish list for J majors. I think it was an SI writer who, after visi the campus to cover a game wrote. That it was near Olean NY which was “65 miles southeast of Buffalo and a thousand miles from nowhere.” Its College Hoop preview issue was a must- buy each fall, as was the swimsuit issue each year.

The LA Times has a mass lay-off. About 115 people. Also, a report is telling the fired employees NOT to trash the State of California as they are leaving the State. nypost.com/2024/01/23/media/the-la-times-slashed-at-least-115-newsroom-jobs-amid-financial-woes/A very reliable insider has told me that over the last few years it was losing readers and circulation. Sold its iconic home building in Downtown Los Angles and moved it location to an industrial park in Long Beach/Torrance area. Loss of readership is due to the clueless reporters who are ............ The State is a mess. Over Eight hundred thousand left in 2023. And the exodus will continue in the years to come. The massive number of homelessness is just hard to comprehend. Once you get out of civilization it is the most wonderful - beautiful place on God's green earth! Add on: With St Bonaventure being one of the best Journalism school in the World, the following is a real eye opener. Open up the X file by a girl names Taylor.
