The high major schools are already taking a serious look at one of Jeff Bishop's top players from the GC Ballers AAU program. It's not surprising to Bishop at all.
"He's the real deal," said Bishop. "He does everything well on the court."
Bishop is talking about Jason Caliste, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound combo guard who also competes for Pope John Paul II school in Toronto, Canada. "Canada is a gold mine now for basketball players," Bishop said.
And one of the players that Bishop feels should land on a high division one level is Caliste. "He is such a competitor," Bishop said. "He wants to win every game, play every possession hard."
Caliste is starting to receive some high division one interest due to his ability to make an impact at both ends of the court -- offensively and defensively.
"Pittsburgh, Syracuse, George Mason, St. Bonventure are a few schools showing some early interest," said Bishop, who coaches the young kids this summer for the GC Ballers.
Caliste, who played for the 16 and under team that performed successfully out in Las Vegas last month, is an athlete that Bishop feels will be a solid college basketball player.
"Because he plays so hard and can score and defend he should do well on any level," Bishop said.
For now, Jason is a big part of the GC Ballers AAU program. And Bishop is more than happy to have him aboard.

GC Ballers Lead Guard Impressive This Summer
By Mike Sullivan Publisher Posted Aug 20, 2007
GC Ballers head coach Jeff Bishop was busy this summer preparing his young team of talent for next year's big events for 17 and under. Bishop spent his time working with the 15 and 16 and under teams this past evaluation period. "The kids are very coachable," Bishop said. "They played very well this summer, especially in Las Vegas."
A player that Bishop praised quite a bit was his lead guard Jamel Webb, 6-foot and 165 pounds. Webb competes for East High School in Buffalo, New York.
"He really rebounds well for a guard," said Bishop about his 2009 prospect. Webb, a rising junior, also has the ability to knock down perimeter shots.
"He shot about 60 percent from the three-point line," Bishop said about Webb. "He is deadly from the outside. He was the most valuable player from the 16 and under tournament at the ADIDAS 64 in Las Vegas."
Webb is now on the radar screen for some division one programs, despite being a rising junior. "Buffalo, Niagara, Siena, and St. Bonaventure are showing some interest now," Bishop said.
Jamel remains open in his recruiting process and is expected to play with the highly regarded GC Ballers AAU program over the next year. "He had a great summer," Bishop said. "Schools are just starting to find out about him."

Bishop Praises Wirey Forward From Buffalo
By Mike Sullivan Publisher Posted Aug 20, 2007
Reporter Mike Sullivan has the story on Tyshawn Edwards ...
The talent pool from the upstate New York area has been climbing year after year in the category of high school and AAU basketball. The GC Ballers AAU program has gotten its fair share of top talent over the past decade.
Ballers head coach Jeff Bishop has been wisely focusing on his younger teams, preparing them for next spring and summer's big 17 and under AAU events. And he has recently stated he is confident that the team will be successful in the big name events.
A player that Bishop mentioned today in our phone interview was Tyshawn Edwards, a 6-foot-3, 175 pound small forward/shooting guard, who spent the summer with Jeff's GC Ballers AAU program.
"He is a wirey player," Bishop said. "He can jump and is very athletic. He also possesses a nice stroke."
Bishop feels the 2009 prospect, a rising junior, is worth watching over the next couple of seasons. "He has the MAC schools recruiting him now," Bishop said. "Also some of the Atlantic 10 schools are involved including Duquesne and Rhode Island."
Edwards, from Grover High School in Buffalo, New York, is a player that Bishop likes to be around. "He is very coachable, a good kid," Bishop said.

Tabb also played at Siena College July 14-16 and the Adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas besides his time at the Eastern Invitational camp.
MIKE SULLIVAN'S VIEW ON RAHSHON TABB'S INDIVIDUAL GAME: An outstanding scoring guard, Tabb has the skills to be an effective division one player due to his ability to put points up from anywhere on the court. As he gets stronger, it will further increase his effectiveness when he tries to score near the basket against the bigger bodies.

Reporter Brian Towey updates the school list for Rahshon Rabb ...
Rahshon Tabb, a 6-foot-1 shooting guard out of Niagara Falls, New York, has seen his list of schools expand after his terrific play at the Eastern Invitational camp that was held in Trenton, New Jersey this week.
Scout.com's High School New York site did speak and interview Tabb recently. He gave us a list of Duquesne, Siena, Niagara, Providence, Penn State, and Canisius. Tabb told us that Duquesne, Siena, Niagara, and Canisius had offered and that he was leaning to Duquesne.
According to Tyree Parker, one of Tabb's coaches with the Donyell Marshall Foundation AAU program, the Niagara Falls SG/combo picked up an offer from Rhode Island and Hampton is making a strong push based on his play at the College of New Jersey.
Next up for Rahshon is the tournament at Siena College July 13-16, which will be hosted by the Donyell Marshall Foundation.
In AAU, he runs with Mickey Walker's Donyell Marshall Foundation club. On the docket for July are stops with Walker at the sanctioned tournament at Siena College July 14-16 and the Adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas.
