A story in scout.com on a NYC PG that was previously reported here had an interest in SBU....can someone post the article?
Any inside info to confirm that he is still a 2008-2009 target?
In reading the recruiting websites there seems to be a common theme that the number of available quality PGs in the 2008 class is getting smaller and smaller thus the remaining players are getting looked at and considered by bigger programs as the weeks go by........
Will we be able to snag a quality 2008 PG like Courtney Stanley or the Trinity Fields?

From yesterday's Olean Times Herald (link will probably be up later today) "Schmidt still has two scholarships left to hand out for this season. It's likely at least one will be used."
The "likely one" was just used on Delonte Taylor.

There is no mention of St. Bonaventure in the Trinity Fields article

I think I saw somewhere that Taylor received an Athletic Grant in Aid. Does this count as a scholarship? Or is this just a way where we can get rid of him as a scholarship player after a year or so if he doesn't pan out athletically or academically? I really don't know, I'm just looking for feedback.

An athletic grant in aid is, I believe, how an athletic scholarship is officially termed. All are one year and renewable if I am not mistaken.

Correct. There is no such thing as a 4 year scholarship. They can be taken away year to year.

Oh ok, I actually knew that, but I was just overthinking on a Mon. morning. I didn't know about the 1 year part of the deal though. Might there be something in the signed LOI that states the scholarship will be renewed unless athletic or academic performance proves unworthy. So even though they are 1 year awards, they are almost gaurenteed 4 years unless they do really poor athletically and/or academically.

I would assume that most coaches want to keep their players around for 4 years unless there is a very good reason not to.
I don't think a program would want that type of reputation (the I might be gone tomorrow idea) when potential recruits are looking at the school.

I don't think a program would want that type of reputation (the I might be gone tomorrow idea) when potential recruits are looking at the school. The problem occurs when a new coach wants his own players. It happened with former Bonnie recruit Rodney Hannah at Houston with Tom Penders releasing about 5 players. Or Ricky Stokes at East Carolina, just 2 years ago released a bunch of players. It was not successful as he was just fired this week.
