To me the most impressive part of this whole thing is the coaching we are seeing now. It is even more clear how much better schmidt is than what we have had now that he has talent. You could tell he was mad at the 2nd half performances the last 2 games. He made these guys keep their focus for the whole game and thoroughly dominate Marist.

Granted it is only the 2nd game but I thought they looked pretty impressive last night. If they looked that good two games in just imagine what a few more games under their belt will do. How good will this team be in late Jan. or Feb. especially if they stay healthy and I see that Leonard be be practicing and be ready to go, that's one more player we can add to the mix.

To : Sr. Margaret, A.D. Watson, Coach Schmidt and staff, members of the '08-'09 St. Bonaventure University Men's Basketball Team.
Thank you.
What a game. (and thanks for the info on the video feed Dunga) Switched from radio with about 5-6 minutes left in the first half. It was a pleasure to watch a well coached, athletically talented, hard working Bona team. Agree with the reviews here: intensity on both ends, great ball movement and awareness, Nicholson has scary potential (interested to see how he reacts when the big boys start to bang and hack him), D'lancy is solid, Mathews is lights out, Hall is everything he was advertised to be, the 1 guard spot is not spectacular, but it's solid - Eleby looks to be coming along nicely. I expect the 4 spot will soon catch up - Grease has yet to find his groove and D'Q shows flashes of potential. We probably left 10-12 easy points out on the court between fumbled 'gimmes' and foul shooting.
For the past 5 (?) years the morning after has been mostly post-mortems. How much fun is this ? Again, thank you. Yaahooooo !!!

Not sure what the concern over Blackburn not showing he's the scorer we thought he'd be is about. It's pretty clear that with guys like Matthews, Hall and Nicholson, not to mention GREASEMODE once he shakes the rust off, Blackburn's role isn't going to neccesarily involve scoring 15 a night.
What an awesome/funny game, Matthews' 28-footer coupled with Nicholson's dunks and Grease's baskets had my living room full of bona kids exploding into fits of laughter and high-fives. Go bonas!

was anybody else a TAD worried in the early going? the first few minutes the team looked flustered, but my worry was erased quickly once the team clicked and showed that they were the superior team. I'm looking forward to Leonard's debut...can't hurt to get a guy on the floor that averaged 25/gm in juco ball. he has quite the impressive resume on gobonnies.com

bonaballa1 - yes, I was at the game, and must admit I was a bit worried in the early going. For the 1st 2 and a half minutes or so, they couldn't get a shot to fall. And, some of those shots were awkward and out-of-control. But, other than Marist's quick 2 points off the opening tip, the Bonnies were doing everything else right. They were moving the ball on offense, and playing aggressive defense. That strong defense paid off. Once Eleby dished to Benson, and Benson hit the 3 for the Bonnies first points with just under 3 minutes gone, they were up 3-2. They settled in nicely from then on.
It was a fun night watching this new Bonnies team. It has only been two games, but their quick development is very encouraging.

Hey Bona84...any of those players remind you of any particulars from the yesteryears when we were there? ;D

I have enjoyed reading so many posts asking us to “calm down” & pointing out the caliber of the two teams we have dismantled. That perspective is reality based but I am ecstatic that we are in a position to be cautioned about our early success. Getting 8 new players on the same page in executing a frenetic pace of play with early good results is quite an accomplishment. Greese is far from what I expect of him & the addition of LL makes the upside of this team very exciting. So let’s enjoy the early success in spite of the realistic cautions. I can’t wait to being at the RAC on Friday & Sunday. Go Bonnies!

Hey Bona84...any of those players remind you of any particulars from the yesteryears when we were there? ;D Coach - I've been meaning to respond to this for, well, about a month and a half now. I'll be at Rose Hill tomorrow night, and perhaps I'll reply after seeing them again tomorrow. Tomorrow will be my third time seeing them in person this year (Marist, Delaware at Rutgers, and at Rose Hill). Can't remember the last time I saw them this many times, probably back in the mid-90s when I lived in Rochester.
