They could be a our two top targets for the SF position and our last ship for this recruiting year (unless we have a transfer out). Both have stated a strong interest in SBU but both could be looking for the bigger/better deal.
Hopefully, they or one of them realize the big opportunity to play major minutes right away for the Bonnies and that a 1,000 pts career and leading our team to the top tier of the A10 is realistic ..... instead of the crapshoot of playing for a lower Big East team and the very real possibility of being recruited over every year.

I totally agree Cope. That's what bugs me about players with great potential, they'd rather go with a big name rather than a program where they can be adored and truly shine.

I also agree with Cope. However, having had a child go through this and assisting/watching several parents deal with this, it's like everything else in life. Peer pressure, appearance and media pressure generally end up influencing the decision. It should be education, size, ability to really play, and relationships. Let's get one of these guys.

There's a 6'4" guard that plays for Maple Grove high school (Jamestown area) that the coaches are interested in. He'll be playing at the RC this weekend in the IAABO Holiday Tournament, if anyone in the area wants to go down and check him out. Only a Junior, but one of the top-ranked players in the state supposedly.
Can't remember his name, something like Vanseeky, or Seicky, or something like that. Anyone know - or have a scouting report on him ?

Maple Grove will be at Hinsdale - January 27th. And I've got to figure out a way to defend this guy (Secky)! ???Any suggestions?
They are in fact doing quite well competing in Class D this year!

If Secky is the guard, you have to defend with a box- 1. Take your best defender and shadow him while the other play team zone D. If he plays inside, you need to play two on him, one in front and other in back. After that, just see what happens and adjust from there.

By the way, both Okoloji & Murphy are great players and would really help to improve the talent level of this team. Hopefully, we can get both. From what I'm reading, Okoloji could be a big guard for us that could post up smaller guards. I think that Murphy will be better in college than Dane Miller. That's why both would be great if we have enough scholarships available. But we need another PG also.

Everyone was talking about Chris Secky at Glen Falls (sight of NY state championship). Chris was even on the front page of the newspaper in Glen Falls with an article and picture of him (link of article is at the bottom). Not bad for a sophomore from Maple Grove, who has already scored a 1,000 points in his high school career. As a sophomore he made 2nd team for Buffalo News All Western New York team, which is always dominated by large schools. Highly recommend checking out Chris today in the Reilly Center at the IAABO tournament. www.poststar.com/articles/2008/03/15/sports/today/13436159.txt

Maple Grove plays Wellsville Saturday @ 12:45.

Anali Okoloji is back in the city and am not sure if he is playing this year. Both Anali Okoloji & Khalil Murphy both list Fordham and SBU as college choices. Maybe some other potential NYC area recruits?
