First off, Thank god I was on a bus trip otherwise I don't think I would have got home last night safely to Binghamton.
Anyways, this was my 2nd time watching them live this year and here are some quick thoughts
1. Nicholson does not get the ball enough, he could have scored whenever he wanted to last night against Duquesene's front court.
2. It was unfortunate that Duq was so quick with their players at the 4 because it limited Thomas time out there he just could not keep up with their 4's playing around the perimeter.
3. Eleby was just plain out awful there is no other words to describe him, he was way too slow
4. Matthews is our shooter, he needs to shoot. He passes up shots too often.
5. Ray Blackburn needs to learn proper tempo
6. Marquis Simmons is much bigger than I expected.
7. A TRUE PG and a pure shooter need to be the top priorities in the spring signing period. Do we have 2 spots left? Also, I believe Conger is a shooter so that may take care of that need. These are the missing ingredients to coach's offense.
8. The effort was horrific. I saw 4-5 on none fast breaks way too often last night
9. Thanks to Ed Rhodes for organizing another fun trip.

Good points, B02, in #4 CHRIS has a tendency to pass up wide open looks if he has just missed a 3 attempt. MATTHEWS does not get enough open looks against the quicker teams. I think he is one of the few players that COACH SCHMIDT would not pull after he misses a 3. I actually start to cringe anymore when I see the BONNIES on a fast break with BLACKBURN controlling the ball. Two things WILL happen and neither good. He will either force a shot over a closely covering defender or turn the ball over. Unfortunelty we have several needs next year but only one ship left. With CARTER gone we will have no bulk. We can get by sometimes playing lean but not other times. We need shooters, hopefully CONGER and LEONARD will help here. And we need an A10 PG. Another observation from yesterday's game- I don't know if I have ever witness a team complete so many long distance "skip passes" as DUQUESNE did yesterday against our defense.

Blackburn MUST learn when to take it and when not to. Our court balance was all ******** up because of him. Hopefully Schmidt realizes this or all of the confernce teams will be getting easy looks.........

Great thoughts B02. It was good to see you and the rest of the Binghampton crew on Saturday. To add my 2 cents, we don't just need a 3 point shooter. There is no one on this team right now that is even willing to take a mid range jumper. Coach may get on Davenport every once in a while for taking a ill advised shot, but at least he is willing to step up and take a shot that isn't out of control and into traffic sometimes. Matthews definitely needs to shoot more. As Sip says above, he misses one and gets down and then won't shoot again for a couple of minutes. He had plenty of looks. I really wouldn't care if he went 1-10 if he took them all in the flow of the offense and they were good looks. He needs to shoot himself out of this and not get down on himself, which seems to be the problem. The point guard situation was absolutely awful. I don't think it will be like that every night, but against quick teams Blackburn and Eleby will struggle all year. Nicholson should have had 30. Every time he touched the ball, he scored. Hopefully we can use this as a lesson and build on it. St. Joes this week. We need a solid showing. Go Bonas.
