I was told in another post to stop the whine regarding Schmidt not taking the shots and not being on the court to play defense. In looking at the "points game" it seemed like everyone had Duquesne winning but it would be tight. Seems a bit paradoxical. I am looking forward because when I look back what I see is a program that could have been closed down due to the scandal and then a guy brought in who couldn't recruit, couldn't coach and was incapable of relating to todays athlete. What I see with Schmidt is someone who can recruit, coach and has a positive outlook on where the program can be looking forward. Sol's goal was to get to 10 win per season from what I could see. Schmidt obviously is concerned with letting this become a plateau for the rest of the year. We will win some games like Rutgers that we were expected to lose and lose games like Canisius and Deleware that most think we should have won. When the dust settles at the end of Feb. we will have 6 more wins and a trip to AC. From what I have been told the recruits coming in will help this program go to the next level. To roast Schmidt in his 2nd year is anyone's right but "Rome wasn't built in a day." If Nicholson plays 4 years we will be in the Top 50 of the country for 2 of them. Mark that prediction down. In some regards I would rather lose by 20 like yesterday than by 2. The key is to bounce back and lok forward. St. Joes is always tough and I expect the "points game" will have most of them taking St. Joes by 6-7 points. Have some patience. The program is in a much better place now than over the past 4-5 years. I stand by what I said. Schmidt can't play the game for the players. 18 months ago everyone in New York was questioning whether Tom Coughlin could coach today's athlete. Now he is headed for a 2nd shot at the Super Bowl. I have patience, something most Jet fans have had for 40 years.
