ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure men's basketball freshman Andrew Nicholson earned his fourth Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honor on Sunday, announced by the league office.
The Mississauga, Ontario native's fourth weekly accolade leads all A-10 rookies and is the first handed out by the league since the start of conference play.
Nicholson averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks over two games. Nicholson began the week with 13 points and nine boards at Fordham, helping the Bonnies snap a nine-game losing streak at Rose Hill Gym and an eight-game losing streak in A-10 road openers. The freshman forward followed with team-highs of 18 points and nine rebounds against Duquesne on Saturday.
On the season, Nicholson is second on the team in both scoring (12.7) and rebounding (6.1), while his 51 blocks are already the fifth-best single-season total in program history. His 3.4 blocks per game rank sixth in the nation and lead all freshmen. Nicholson also ranks second in the A-10 in field goal percentage (.625) and leads all conference freshmen in rebounding, defensive rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage.
Nicholson and the Bonnies (10-5, 1-1) will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 14, when they welcome Saint Joseph's to the Reilly Center. The Hawks (7-7) opened A-10 play Saturday with a dramatic 92-86 triple-overtime win over Rhode Island. Tip time at the RC on Wednesday is set for 7 p.m.

While a loss always hurts, watching Andrew fill up the stat sheet takes away some of the sting.
