Does anyone know if Bona plans on offering him (Class of 2010)?

No idea, but I watched him when the IAABO was at the Reilly Center.
Chris is a really nice kid, and he's got great court vision. He's the type of student-athlete that I believe should represent our school. That said, he had an awful IAABO.
He took shots that he had absolutely no shot of making, and he was definitely trying to force things that weren't there. He was so-so defensively, and I've always maintained that the difference between a D-1 prospect (especially at guard) and just a good high school player is defense. Most guards can shoot and pass, but how you play defense goes a long way in where you're recruited. And, if the IAABO was any indication, Chris has a lot of work to do.
Again, he's a great kid, but I don't know if he'd cut it in the Atlantic-10.

He is NOT Atlantic 10 talent. I am from a school that plays him 2 times a year or 3 depending on playoff seeding. My cousin has played him several times from 8th grade on and it has become rather clear that Chris is not a10 talent

Ok thanks for the information, I have heard his name floating around being called a "D-1 talent"

I'd agree with the above assessments. I think he is a "low" D-1 talent, but as therc says, I don't seem him competing defensively in the A10. My guess is he'll have better options in football.

secky...see bruno d, andy moore, john bowen..jury still out on house..i have never seen secky play..but tearing it up vs. western ny C and D level schools doesnt mean much relative to div 1 college ball. i would think a good comparison would be the moore kids at pitt bradford..i dont know how they are doing, but they played vs. tougher hs competition than secky..nothing personal..just the facts

And what about Jack Leasure from rochester who went to Coastal Carolina scoring 2000 points and now Kyle Downey contributing at Siena as a frosh.....we basically said no to both of these players - incredible when you consider our guard play the last 4 years..... Secky making 2nd team All WNY as a soph is impressive...very impressive....and that team is not broken down by small/large schools Lets not go closing the door quite yet
In the past we also had personal scouting report on Mike Gansey when he was in HS saying he was basically the same as Eric Siegrest......other than both being white guards...their game could not have been more different
Also last I checked we play 12 games that are not in the A10...when we play teams from the MAAC...I want a less athletic kid with a great outside shot....guards from marist and Siena have often killed us lately

guards from marist and Siena have often killed us lately We haven't played Siena since we won there in 2001-2002. Also, when have their guards ever killed us? Haven't they beaten us, like, once in the past 30 years (while Winn was suspended in '98-'99)? As for Marist, the Jordan kid killed a lot of teams. We were no different... other than the fact he faced two of the worst Bona teams in school history. The point is, though, we shouldn't be settling on unathletic guards just because they're local. If Schmidt thinks Seckey can play, he'll offer him.

ok tom let me change it...guards from the MAAC (Frank Turner as a frosh at Canisius scored 18 against our guards - we told Frank no too)..... In fact it would be difficult to find any games in the last 4 years where our backcourt was not seriously outplayed by our oppnent...A10 or MAC or MAAC ..... Not a guard,,,but another local talent from Rochester who wanted us and said no to was Niagara's 6'8 Center....the decision to not sign the kid likely cost us back to back NCAA appearances....he could have played center on the PVP/Kevin Houston team ...instead we were forced to play 6'6 Robert Cheeks at center... Much of my theme is lets not immediately dismiss local kids so flippantly....

Speaking of WNY high school hoops, not a lot of talent out there that is still "available". One western New Yorker I hope the staff is all over for 2010 is Newark's JAVON MCRAE. There are a couple of Buffalo area hoopsters that interest me only if they prep next year are JEROME HUNTER(6-10) of Buffalo Arts, I believe I have heard BC and GA TECH may have some interest and a real sleeper is MARK RUTECKI of Williamsville East, Mark has been putting up some decent numbers for a not very good team. He is 6-10 200 so a year of prepping would do him good. Another area Niagara Falls High(I believe he is back there) guy that may be worth a look is MYRON RESPRESS(6-8). With all his transferring around I'm not sure of his status but I believe he is 2010.

jh - is Reaves the kid that played at Niagara that you're thinking of ? A big body who had a nice career and always played well against us. I agree, he would have helped us a lot had we got him. If I remember, we took Q Habib that year 'instead' and so had no room for Reaves. Niagara got the better part of that deal for sure. I'd pick 'Q' over him in a rap battle or poetry slam though.

This kid is very athletic. He's the quarterback for the football team. They were state champs. He was second team all WNY for basketball as a sophmore. He is one of the best passers that I have seen and has great range on his jumper. He would star for any team in WNY. I'm not saying that he could play in the A-10, but don't dismiss his talents. He almost had a quadruple double the other night. I trust the coaches judgement and if they think Chris can play at Bona, then he probably can.
