While I agree with the postings on the previous thread, I would like the opinions of who the most important players in Bona history after 1980. Here are my four:
Earl Belcher Mark Jones Tim Winn Marques Green
Bronze Statues to: J.R. Bremer Harry Moore Mike Burnett Rashan Palmer

I'll nominate Dave Vanterpool

Agree with Vanterpool. Can't decide who I'd put him in over, though - Winn (leader of NCAA team, relentless defender and spark plug) or Green (holds 7 school records, on two NIT teams, but part of two disastrous seasons).

Belcher was great. Probably the best pure shooter I ever saw at Bonas. If 1980 is your cutoff, he had limited contributions to the period, as he graduated in 1981 - but should be on the mountain.
I cannot argue with the other selections. Jones was one hell of a player. You did not want his name when listening to away games on the radio, and playing the game where you had to do a shot every time the players name was mentioned. Aside from that, he was a terrific point guard who knew how to distribute and score. I might move Bremer ahead of Green. And, Vanterpool and Shandue McNeil deserve consideration in the after 1980 period.

I'd definitely put Vanterpool over Palmer, but not sure who I'd knock out of the initial 4. Dave was the key to the successful teams during the early Baron years. Moore was a dominant force, but I'd absolute name Dave the MVP of that era.

Belcher Jones Bremer Green
Marques Green and JR Bremer are two of the best guards to ever wear Brown and White.

Yep, I agree!!! I forgot about Vanterpool!! I don't know how I could have. I was in the front row of the bleachers about 4ft away when he hit the 3 pointer to send that ranked UMass team to OT. My other memory from that game was I believe Kellogg threw a 3/4 court fast break alley-oop to Camby, who just flushed it. Does anyone else remember that play?
Vanterpool over Palmer for sure.

Belcher was great. Probably the best pure shooter I ever saw at Bonas. Belcher was a pure scorer, but I never thought of him as a shooter. Greg Sanders and JR Bremer are my choices for best pure shooters. 4 best players since the 80's? Belcher, Bremer, Green, and Jones.

I just have memories of him scoring on jumpers with hands in his face. Good scorer. Never personally saw Sanders, he was pre-1980.
