therc...You are so right about the students. They are fantastic! Bonnies stand a chance, because of the students. Extremely thankful this game is scheduled with the students back.

I think there is no question the team has not played as well without the students.

Let us bring in 30 racks or kegs and we'll be there when the doors open. That is why we used to bring drinks in with us. It was common as the students left after the game to see bottles and cans of all variety. The students would show up early to make sure they got the best seats behind the other team's bench. These prize seats made it worthwhile to give up an hour of boozing. Now that they give these seats to fat cats who don't cheer, there is no reason to get there so early.

We still got there an hour or so before the game even though we couldn't get those seats behind the opponents bench. The seats accross from them next to the tunnel were just as good. In fact they started opening up earlier to let the students in because we got there so early. Oh and you don't lose an hour of boozing either by standing in line for great seats. Bring a sixer with ya and some snacks and your good to go. Some people would even go as far as bringing a portable grill and grill out. Oh and we would be on the opponent as soon as they came out to warm up some 20 mins to a half hour before tip.

My post was not meant as any kind of knock on the students. I was at the MSU game and they were great. But to suggest that the number of students that go to games now is the same as it was say 8-10 years ago is just not true. I remember staying in the dorm too long drinking and trying to get some sort of seat 15 minutes before game time. It was impossible. You would be relegated to the corner of the endzone or standing by one of the doors. The students that have been there have been great, the same as they always were. Also, I agree about the reds. It is dead up there. I sat in there for the Dukes game because I brought my 7 month old son with me and figured it would be easier. It was terrible. However, the redsw are not and will never be what gives the RC its identity. Its the crazy students who are inches from the court and screaming their heads off. Bottom line, we need the RC to be back to what it was, and that will only come with better players, and more students in the seats.
