WHEW! Not that I am a DAYTON fan but we need to keep the teams below us, below us. Weird game, with 21 seconds left, GW up by 1 and DAMIAN HOLLIS at the foul line, GW gets called for 6 men on the floor giving DAYTON two shots and the ball. DAYTON makes both free throws GW and fouls again this time the DAYTON player makes only one of two. GW comes down takes 3 shots and misses, DAYTON wins.

Watched this on Channelsurfing and, wow, what a bizarre ending. That said, all praise saints Bonaventure and Francis. As much as you want to take care of your own business and get to 7 wins to eliminate any fear of getting to Atlantic City, the reality is we probably have 3 or 4 more wins in us so we need any help we can get. Expecting to win many more road game is just wishful thinking, despite how well we've played.
Assuming we can beat Fordham (and a big assumption since they almost won AT Dayton), that should relegate them to no better than 13th place. That means we have to beat out one more team, and you have to believe the candidates to finish 12th are us, GW, La Salle and Charlotte. GW looks on the verge of total implosion, but their last three loses have been by 5, 4 and 2 points last night.
Our game at GW on Feb. 19 might be the biggest of the season, assuming we can somehow figure out how to win two games at home besides Fordham. I would hope we could split 2 of 4 from La Salle, UMass, St. Louis and Charlotte — all home games. Just cross your fingers it doesn't come down to the Senior Night game vs. Charlotte, needing a win to qualify for AC.
The students are on break again. (Not that having them back for Xavier helped much, although it was Xavier.)

I have been worrying about the same exact thing, I do not want to have to beat Charlotte in a quiet RC in order to get into the tournament. So long as we beat GW and beat Fordham I think we will be safe but until that happens I am still worried about making the tournament.

I understand what everyone is saying, but let's just pump the breaks a little bit here. It's probably best to be cautiously optimistic, but I don't see a reason why this Bona team can't win five or six more conference games. Flat out, we were exposed against Xavier--one of the best teams in the country--and didn't play well against the Dukes or Hawks, but there are still very winnable games left. Let's just try to keep in mind how horrid the talk on this board was after we lost to St. Joe's. Some people were worred we might only win one more conference game. I think it's best that we just sit back, enjoy the ride of a hugely improved team, and see where the chips lie in March. To me, we'll be in Atlantic City, though.
