www.youtube.com/watch?v=lb0lvHfI_7kYouTube killed the quality of the video after it was uploaded, but for those of you who didn't see the game, here are some highlights from last night. They could have been up here a lot earlier, but security had already locked all the doors to the Murphy building when I went to get into the Koop Lab last night. Anyway, I'm going to try to get highlights of the last three home games up here, too, so keep on the lookout.

Thanks landerjp for your work on this. No apologies needed on the quality, which is quite good. Look forward to your highlights of the final 3 home games. One suggestion. In such a short clip, the comment on a student’s remark to Watson at the end of the game is probably not in the best interest of the program. It will be viewed by the community far beyond the Bona Bubble. The staff is working diligently to recruit players to build on what we got. Please keep that in mind.
I liked the Matthews penetration & dish to Nicholson for the dunk. Inbounds pass off Matthews back for 2 points with 3 secs left in the half along with Malcolm's missed layup brings back the pain. Crazy, but I was hoping he would make it in the clip.

Thank you for the nice words and the advice, but as a journalism student, I can't be concerned with 'the best interest' of the program.
I just need to tell the story as I see it. And with a loss to a team that's 0-5 in the conference, I think the fan (and it wasn't a student) had every right to say that.

landerjp,
I doubt that it was simply the fact that we lost to an 0-5 conference team, but I'm willing to guess it was the way we lost it.
Anyone sitting in the stands last night rightfully should have felt upset at the performance they saw. However, I'm going to guess that Steve Watson understands that fans get upset in the heat of the moment after a loss, as I'm sure he was as well.
I'll make an even bolder assumption and bet that the fan you talked about will indeed show up to another game.
I think you did a nice job on your piece. You are very talented. However, I question the "journalistic quality" of bringing up the fan and Watson.
Compare it to sports networks when they cover games like this. How many times do you think during the course of a game they hear coaches cussing out their players, or saying completely inappropriate things? I'm willing to guess it's a lot.
But you never hear announcers harp on it. Why? Because it was in the heat of the moment. My humble opinion is that the best journalism is obtained when people are thinking rational thoughts. Just a little spot of advice for the future.......

Yea, that quote to Watson was real "newsworthy." I sure can go on knowing some kid said that to our Athletic Director. I'm glad we knew "he heard it" as well. This really added to the piece. I think our two best players sitting on the bench down the strech may trump the dynamite student quote. Just my thoughts.

Could I have a quick snap for tomorrow's Herald? You're the top scoop in town, Coach!" "I can see it now, Johnny: Mack McAllister is the top journalist in western New York after his ground-breaking video work at the Bona-Fordham game. All else aside, I had a story to tell and I told it! It matters not if I consider integrity... I had a story to tell! It was newsworthy!" "Muaaaaaaaahhh... see... Mr. Editor, I just got this one in hot off the presses! It's a real scally wagger, Mr. Editor! You won't be disappointed in this bang up job of journalism! I might win the Pulitzer!" "Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Bona student breaks big case! Up and coming journalist cares not for the best interest of the program! Read all about it!" Oh, the life of a cut throat journalist! Those teeth have been sharpened to a Great White level in the Koop lab!

Sorry, Im just telling the story the way I see it.

I'm not worked up over including one anonymous fan's postgame reax. Mostly because I thought it was so small a deal -- fans everywhere say a lot of stuff like that after a loss -- I wouldn't have bothered putting it in my gamer. But that's just me.
So what I want to know is, how good is the sourcing on this? Did Watson confirm that he heard the remark in question?

landerjp...Who is manning the baseline camera seen in the video highlights? Too bad it can't be used in conjunction with the single half court camera seen in the video streaming from the RC. Also, why have no mass communications majors been selected to provide play by play during for the video streaming transmissions? Seems like a no brainer if there are competent candidates.
