I posted this story as an attempt to provide an answer to the question that a lot of members wanted to know why Coach pulled Andrew out of the game in the second half. I'm a reader rather than a poster. Though I'm a little miffed to see no responses to my post. Coach yanked him because he was tired. I have followed the Brown Indians since the Stith-Crawford era and was in awe of Lanier, Sats, Hayes, Kalbaugh, Gary, Gantt and Hoffman while I attended Bonas, and was fortunate to see some of the best of St. Bona basketball. Now a days, I read the Bandwagon to keep informed. I'll never rag on any of the players nor the fans. It's a different game now, the players are different, the NCAA is a business, yet we are still that small school in a remote location, and it is hard for us to compete. Lets hope and pray we improve well enough in the next couple of years to put ourselves back in a position where we almost took out Kentucky in 2000. I think we have the right coach. Give him some time. Go Bonas! Beat the Dukes!

I'm incredibly out of shape, but I am confident that even I could catch my breath sitting on the bench even HALF as long as Andy did Wednesday night. The Rams had no post presence over 6'7, so its not like we needed a wide body like D'lancy in there for that long. Just a simple mistake that cost us a game.

I like what Bob had to say and I think he speaks for more people than some would realize. Go Bonas

I posted this story as an attempt to provide an answer to the question that a lot of members wanted to know why Coach pulled Andrew out of the game in the second half. Coach yanked him because he was tired. Those vicious dunks prior to being yanked must have drained him. Andrew played 12 and a half minutes. Barely more than half of the 2nd period of the game. If Andrew needs this much time to recuperate on the bench, then Schmidt needs to do more running during practice. Something how fellow freshman Jio Fontan can play the entire game. Also this is not just the Fordham game, but a pattern we have seen this entire season. Andrew has played only 2 games of 30 minutes and get this, he played 42 minutes against Bucknell. What happened? Andrew must have been in better shape against Bucknell. How else can you explain him being gassed after 10 minutes and 30 seconds. Could you please explain the rationale of pulling Grease at 9:27 (along with Andrew) and keeping him on the bench until the last 28 seconds. Grease got another double-double and he is leading the Bonnies with 6. Incredible to see Grease with 6 double-doubles when you consider he is averaging less than 20 minutes a game. Wonder what his stats would be like if he put in 30 minutes a game. Schmidt has done an incredible job with the Bonnies, but I can't explain why he doesn't have Andrew and Grease playing 30 minutes a game, especially considering the lack of depth.

I totally agree with you, Chuck. My purpose was to relay Coach Schmidt's explanation in the article.

Okay, Chuck...I was wondering if Schmidt could do "nothing wrong" in your eyes, but this tells me a lot. You're right! I started watching the game with about seven minutes to go on Channelsurfing.net. I had to go to the Gametracker to check on how many minutes both Thomas and Nicholson had as I didn't see them in the game for most of the last seven minutes. I thought they were in foul trouble/fouled out or something. The first play I saw was D'Lancy Carter's chance for a three point play which, I think, put us up by five (even though Carter missed the FT). But, at that point, you've got to start thinking about playing your best. Like you've said many a time: the coach is in the best position to make calls regarding the team while we are the spectators. But I think he made a great error in judgement in this game that might end up ultimately costing us a trip to Atlantic City. "The team" wins games (including the coach)..."The team" loses games....
