This was noted further down the page on the link.
DANDY ANDY: St. Bonaventure freshman forward Andrew Nicholson leads all freshmen nationally in blocked shots (72) and field goal percentage (.620) entering the Bonnies' Feb. 11 contest at Rhode Island. Named the A-10 Rookie of the Week a program-record six times, Nicholson's nine blocks at Bucknell on Dec. 30 mark the highest single-game total in Division I this season. UMass forward Tony Gaffney also registered nine blocks on Dec. 6 versus Boston College.
Having a frosh leading the nation in either stat would be impressive. Having one that leads both...........priceless.
As Andrew develops, think what his numbers will grow to be with more minutes per game and, hopefully, a steadier offense in the future with far fewer turnovers translating to more complete offensive possessions.

This guy has to be A10 Rookie of the Year right? If we can make it to AC, then I say definitely yes, but its closer than you may think with Jio Fontan running close behind. I don't see Andy slowing down though, so I'm putting my money on him.

Agree keplerjd. With 7 conference games to play I would say that The Professor has the edge over Fontan in being named the A10 Rookie of the Year. However there is lots more basketball for Andrew to hold the edge. Besides leading the conference in being named Rookie Player of the Week (school record 6 times) he shows up on the national radar in blocks #5 & #6 in FG% @ 62%. As OSB says, "priceless." Fontan doesn’t come anywhere near cracking any of the national rankings in typically PG categories like assists, steals, A/TO ratio (very mediocre 1.25 conference) , FT% (he’s bad there converting only 58%), trey shooting (29% for the season).
Fontan is the # 8 scorer in the conference @ 17.4ppg & Nicholson is # 14 @ 14.7ppg. However Fontan plays 36mpg compared to just 26mpg for Andrew. Andrew is simply a more efficient scorer per min played and no comparison in shooting percentages with Andrew at 64% conference play compared to Fontan’s 38%.
A lot can happen over the remainder of the season but I look for Andrew to continue to improve & impress while holding on to his edge over the other fine frosh. As Coach Schmidt has said, coming from Canadian ball to American is a big transition. And his step up to Div I was a gigantic learning curve. He has handled the transition amazingly well & you can see the development of his offensive game, game to game.
More important for the Professor and the team is to make the tourney & impress there.
