I see that Florida State has been caught with a major violation involving academic cheating among 61 athletes across 10 sports. It involved Football and both men's and woman's basketball. This is their SIXTH time on probation. Can you guess their punishment? What amounts to a slap on the wrist.
Now, we of course deserved to be punished for what we did 6 years ago, but this is another clear example of how the NCAA looks to make an example of the "little" guy and letting the big money schools slide by. The NCAA is the biggest hypocritical joke. They have hundreds of rules, but they are selective in how they want to enforce them. It took us 6 years to get back to .500. FSU will bounce back from this in no time at all and will continue doing the same thing and will most likely get caught for a seventh time. Can you imagine if we had violations involving 61 athletes?? They would have shut us down!

Can you imagine if we had violations involving 61 athletes?? They would have shut us down! No, no we wouldn't. Don't be silly. If Florida State's President overruled their compliance office and declared an ineligible player eligible, the same thing would happen to them. You're comparing cheating on exams to the President of the University, on his own, declaring an inelgible student eligible. The PRESIDENT! That is the very definition of 'Lack of Institutional Control'.

That is the very definition of 'Lack of Institutional Control'. You are absolutely correct on the merits, but I'm not so sure about your conclusion. The NCAA has acted cravenly time and time again when dealing with big-time programs, the SMU football situation aside. And they will never do again to any major program what they did to SMU.

Their ad feels that wins should not be part of their "punishment." Where did he learn about ethics? Sing Sing

The fact that the AD came out and said he "doesn't believe vacating wins is right" shows how messed up that school is and how big time punishment IS needed. How about a "we don't believe academic scandal is right, and academic integrity is our number one priority"
