Bona statistically had the worst PG play in the A10 last year. We loose out back-up center who was very serviceable and not replace him. Our starting center gets in constant foul trouble. We have questionable power forwards and quite a few shooting guards and small forwards. We got rid of 2 players and really not replaced them and now we constantly go after JUCO's to fill the roster. We had 7 new players last year and possibly the same amount this coming year. Our outside shooting is inconsistent and our schedule will probably get harder next year. This year's recruiting is extremely questionable and we have not factored in injuries or possible ineligibilities for some players. Can anyone tell me why I should be optimistic?

Last year we had how many new players??? and we went from 7 to 15 wins......our #1 need was PG....we addressed it very well

You could make a better Chicken Little Argument with last year's team. Team lost its 3 leading scorers (Lee, Relph and Z). The team had one returning starter in D'Lancy Carter (who did not even start on this year's team). In contrast this year team's returns its 3 leading scorers and team loses just one starter.
Enough with the sky is falling, there are reasons to be optimistic. Team has 4 returning starters. Greese is a significant loss, but his behavior could not be tolerated. House and Simmons have being receiving positive reports. In fact received an email today that said House looks great during the scrimmages.
The starting point guard is returning, but eyewitness reports have stated Ogo has been fantastic during scrimmages. Clearly the point guard position will be improved, along with the other returning starters.
Going into the season, this team has fewer questions than last year's team that won 15 games.

I not arguing your points Chuck, because you are correct in many ways. However, losing Relph, Lee & Z were addition by subtraction as they were limited A10 players. You don't want to be replacing a number of guys every year though because you are getting transfers and jucos. Get 4 year players and develop them. Then you get continuity and depth. Ogo might look great, House too...but last year Greese was the second coming, our shooter had many games where he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, and Lewis wasn't available. Bottomline is that getting jucos and transfers are like a box of chocolates...whereas if you get freshman, you generally know what ypou'll get when they are juniors. Lets say we save two ships or use them on 2 talented transfers (unless they have 3 years left), and then 1st game of his junior year the Professor breaks his hand on a dunk and is out for the year. Too many questions, too little continuity.

Let's enjoy the summer before we start to worry about basketball season. The summer is short enough around here as it is.
