A very, very good read. I agree with practically every line.
However, it should be noted that, while probably being a better true point man, Adegboye won't score nearly as much as Blackburn. If all goes according to plans, he gets more play that Ray ended up not getting, but he still won't get more than 6-7 a night, not that that should be a big issue.
Also, these fellas seem pretty intent on Leonard starting, which, again, is totally fine. Nowhere did they really mention the fact that his insertion puts a 6-5 Johnathan Hall at the four. More of issue than Ogo not being a big scorer? Yes. A deal-breaker? Not close. Hall has the savy, toughness and is wide and bulky. For that matter, he might even be better off there.
I usually just skimmed over their pieces during the season as another outlet to feed the addiction, but that's as excited as I've been to read about Bona Basketball in months. Great read, complete with a subtle Bandwagon diss in closing. Count it.

Adegboye won't score nearly as much as Blackburn. Simply stunning. Absolutely, mind-boggling stunning. The Blackburn love affair continues although he was an out of control, team cancer no basketball IQ point guard that just wasn't very good. I must have missed your voyage to London or Colorado to get your scouting report on Adegboye to know he won't score as much as Earl Monroe, errrr, I mean Ray Blackburn, one of the most dynamic scorers to step on campus in recent memory. Maybe Adegboye won't score as much as shoot first, turnover second, go full speed without the ball Blackburn, but I will guarantee he will never have a mental meltdown like Ray Ray at the end of the Canisius game or bring his posse to home games to harass our coaching staff while his sorry ass is on the bench.

Agree with everyone it is a great and in depth article by Ian on the newcomers. Some observations from the article: 1. With Ian stating House will be a backup at the 4 and Simmons playing most of his minutes as a backup at the 3, it leaves Hall starting at the 4. It works for OOC games, but does not work for A-10 games. Hall was a star during OOC games, where he could take smaller players to the basket and did not have big athletic centers waiting for him next to the hoop (only 2 games he did not score double digits). Conference games playing against bigger players, Hall became less effective and he had 6 games where he did not score double digits and these teams (Xavier, GW, Temple, URI, St. Joes and Charlotte) had the bigger lineups in the A-10, especially at the 3 spot. To show the disparity Jonathan's 1 big game in A-10 was the 31 he scored against St. Louis who tried to guard Jonathan with 6'4" Liddell and 6'2" Lisch. Putting Hall at the 4 spot in A-10 games where he would be going against 6'8" and 6'9" power forwards would be difficult for Jonathan both offensively and defensively. We have to hope House, Simmons or Cook can develop into a starter for conference games. 2. Like Ian I've heard Lewis is a scoring machine, who has the mid range game the Bonnies lacked last year (Hall took it to the hoop and Matthews just a jump shooter behind the arc)). Lewis will not be replacing Hall as a starter, but he is certainly capable of replacing Matthews. As for outside shooting, Ogo is the newcomer with the best shot. Ogo offers a lot the Bonnies lacked last year with his athleticism (jet quick as described by Ian), basketball IQ, taking it to the hoop and creating open looks for others, outside shooting and defense. sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=41507

It is a mistake to assume Ogo will not be a scoring option for the Bonnies. In JUCO he proved his team was a lot better when he took on a scoring role. During the regular season, Ogo averaged 11 ppg and Lamar CC was just one of the better teams in Region IX, finishing 5th in Region IX. In the Region IX playoffs Ogo averaged 14.6 ppg and Lamar unexpectedly won the Region IX title, which gave them a bid to the National JUCO Tournament. In the National Tournament Ogo averaged 15.3 ppg and Lamar finished 5th in the tournament. Jonathan Hall averaged 18.8 ppg in the same tournament and he became the leading scorers for the Bonnies. It is reasonable to expect Ogo to be a double digit scorer for the Bonnies. www.gobonnies.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/042309aaa.htmlwww.wncc.net/orgs/sports/mbball.htm

Nicely done guys. I enjoyed the article. For what it's worth, one last spell-check would make it even more professional.

Since hamburger felt the need to conveniently pick & choose portions of my post to quote, here's the essence of it: 1) Adegboye will probably play more than Blackburn. 2) Adegboye will probably play better than Blackburn. 3) Adegboye will probably score less than Blackburn. Adegboye started all 38 games at his JC and scored 11/game. Will he play more than the 22 min/game Blackburn played? Probably. Will he score more than the 8/game Blackburn scored? Probably not significantly. Will he be better? Again, probably. Not sure what led to the overly-defensive rant, but I hope it made this guy feel better. Either way, after all that hot air, Adegboye probably still isn't gonna score a ton. Good day!
