saw this in the NYDaily News blog Hoops on Hoops: Riddle me this? Why is the Atlantic 10 - a league filled with Eastern and Midwest teams and has three members located in the city of Philadelphia - moving its league offices to Newport News, Virginia? T he presidents of this league, who okayed this move, must have lost their minds. This is the worst decision the conference has ever made. It's obvious this league could care less about trying to generate publicity with Northeast corridor media outlets. If the Atlantic 10 was looking to save money, all it had to do was move across the river to Cherry Hill or out of King of Prussia. But Newport? Other than Richmond, there isn't another A-10 school close. My major concern now is the welfare of beloved associate commissioner Ray Cella, who is the best thing the league has going for it. No Sir, I don't like it. Thios sounds like some ego in the league office moving the whole shooting works to where they want to live with no regard to the business as a whole. It reeks of minor league to me.

Sounds like the new Commissioner misses the south already. Awful move, but I don't really think it matters to much, I mean what publicity happens at the actual offices anyway? i would assume the new commish realizes the importance of publicity of the northeast so the conference will be fine, granted she is from the ACC so maybe that is a poor assumption.

I never knew or cared where the league office was before. In fact, I had never even thought about it. I'd imagine most would say the same. Sure won't keep me up at night.

There is a thread several pages long on this topic over at the A-10 board. Other than the impact on Current A-10 employees that may not want to move from Philly to VA, I really don't see what difference it makes where the HQ offices are.
