Could someone please advise the team manager to sew the players names on the backs of the uniforms for this season. With all the new faces, it would be good to be able to not have to check the program every time a basket is made.

Speaking as a former manager, Schmidt does not want his players to have numbers on the back of their uniforms...he enjoys the "Yankee" approach, even though he is a Red Sox fan...don't expect to see names on the rear anytime soon...

Just to clarify, the Sox have no names on their home jerseys (no true Sox fan would need to look at the program though). They do have their names on their away jerseys.

Sox fans, and Yankee fans, for that matter, don't need to look at the programs. But, Mets fans do. This is clearly off topic, but today's Mets starting lineup featured exactly one starter from the opening day starting lineup, and that starter was at 1st base today instead of his opening day position of LF. And, 5 of the starters today were not even on the roster on opening day.

The Dodgers also do not sport names on the back of their home jerseys, nor do the San Fransisco Giants. Those being the only four teams that do not wear names on the back of their jerseys in baseball....by my count anyway...

The Dodgers most certainly have names on the back of their home jerseys:

I think we'll be all right without the team manager breaking out his trusty needle and thread. Ogo wears zero. House is the skin-and-bones blonde. Rosie Roseboro is the red head. Leonard (No. 24) is 6-4. Conger (11) is 6-6. Simmons (33) is 6-8. The Dodgers took the names off their jerseys, but brought them back this year. Milton Bradley, 2005

As another former team manager (early 80's), I can assure you that the managers don't sew. I recall using staplers, tape and glue for certain "repairs" but not needle and thread.

The Yankees are the ONLY team in MLB that does not have their name on home or away jerseys. Several teams have it on one and not the other but the Yankees have neither. Their home uniform remains the best uniform in all of sports.

Their home uniform remains the best uniform in all of sports. The Yankees certainly have the most classic uniform in all of sports, but I will offer some other challengers for best uniforms.... The Note Dame football threads San Diego Charger throwbacks Duke Basketball, or even UNC Original 6 Hockey uniforms Boston Celtics are also pretty classic.

Well, the Rangers are the Richmond Spiders of the A10. You're just "there." Youre just annoying.
