from: blog.northstarbball.com/In other news, Corey Chandler, who was dismissed from Rutgers and then was expected to visit St. Bonaventure and Binghamton, has officially selected Binghamton. St. Bonaventure may well have pulled out of the running after landing Brett Roseboro '09 earlier this week. Chandler is, according to a source close to the situation, on Binghamton's campus and began taking classes there today. Interestinly, Binghamton actually beat Rutgers at the RAC this past year in a game that I attended. Chandler, who went to Newark Eastside (NJ), will have two years of eligibility left for the America East school.

Regardless of whether Chandler's decision was impacted by the Roseboro signing, we are much better off with the 6'10", four year player. As the old saying goes, "you can't teach size" and this is traditionally the type of player (as far as height/size) we rarely get a legitimate sniff at. What a great addition to the Bonnies present and future front line.

I think Chandler would have certainly been more of an immediate impact, but doesn't he also fill a position we're currently loaded at? At first I would have rather had Chandler, but the more I think about it, the more the Roseboro signing makes sense with the program's long-term goals of bringing in talented, 4-year players. I don't think Roseboro will be able to completely replace what last year's Greese contributed(on the court), but I do think he can come in his freshman year and play as well as, if not better than, a 2007-2008 D'Lancy Carter (7-8 ppg, 6-7 reb).

I would take that in a heartbeat! That would be a huge freshman year, considering his supporting role to Andrew!

some additional commentary on Corey Chandler's decision to go to Binghamton from: LFBall On Hoops lfballonhoops.blogspot.com/St. Bonnies is a hard place in the middle of nowhere that College Coaches hate to visit. Corey decided not to visit based on that and other factors including St. Bonnies having pretty good backcourt people in place for 2010-2011. Nothing to do with what you assumed happened at Rutgers. Plus Binghamton is a far supperior academic school. Ask people who know!

You can tell LFball went to the source for their post. Unfortunately this is the same source that leaked information he was visiting Bonas last Wednesday, which was reported that day. When that visit did not occur he said he was visiting Saturday. What is well documented is his suspensions at Rutgers and Binghamton's coach history of recruiting talented but players with troubled pasts. Do not believe Binghamton is a good choice for Corey.

I, for one, am glad that Chandler didn't come to Bonas. He has some problems. Lets keep him off campus. It is better for Chandler to play at Binghamton than Bonas with his checkered past. The Binghamton team is the "poster child" of we take bad kids to have a good basketball team!

Would you take bad boys if that allowed you to win more games?

If he is going to go to college for free, probably make the NCAA tourney, and be the focus of their offense than he did make the right choice. I really don't know why we are discussing about a transfer we never offered.

B02, with respect I disagree with you. To me it is a win at all costs mentality. Lets run a clean program. Having said that SBU has had its share of "players with troubled pasts." This is probably no more so than any other school but lets not actively recruit these types of players. We are at a time when the basketball program is rebuilding in a positive way. Lets not impede that progress. Recruit players like Andrew Nicholson.

A clean program can have some players with checkered pasts. JR Bremer and Tim Winn had some legal issues, but were really good b-ball players. Would really pass on them? Let's be real here, not all b-ball players are angels 24/7, that does not make them bad people.
