The reality is that in order to compete more funds are necessary. I am not suggesting that we will raise funds equivalent to larger programs. However, we must increase our funds now. My point is that there are always excuses regarding attendance. The excuses get old after a while. The RC has not been filled for the last 40 years. In fact attendance was a disappointment last year given the improved caliber of play. There is never a good time to increase the cost of anything. The fact remains that Bona hoops continues to be the best bargain in the A-10. When was the last time that there was a significant increase regarding BAF benefits or ticket prices? It has been a while. The Bona faithful want to see a competitive program. Increased funds are not a luxury at this point. The funds are a necessity. Do you honestly think that the athletic department didn't think long and hard about the fiscal situation and the impact on fans? People make difficult choices every day about how they want to spend money. I won't cast dispersions on others regarding their financial situation or choices. My point is that making the athletic department the culprit is naive at best.

Except for your views on attendance, I completely agree with your post above. Financial resources are desperately needed for the basketball program to remain at the same level. Watson is doing a great job and feel he is the right person for Athletic Director.
Prior to Solomon the Reilly Center consistently averaged over 5,000 fans. I know, because my season tickets were much higher in the reds. Now it is difficult to imagine, but it was a time when posters discussed the need of building a larger arena. A reasonable assumption after Solomon was an improved team would lead to improved attendance, but a strange thing happened with attendance last year. The team improved dramatically, but average attendance actually decreased. I can assure you the increase in the cost of going to games last year is a primary cause for the disappointing attendance.
Did not intend to overlook Watson's difficult job of providing need resources to the basketball program and keeping the cost of going to a game affordable. Completely understand there will be fans that can't afford going to games. It is not "whining" or "complaining" but just a result of our economy coupled with the landscape of competing in today's college basketball environment.

I do not like the Le Moyne game, they are a very good D2 team, and it's a no win situation.

I do not like the Le Moyne game, they are a very good D2 team, and it's a no win situation. the thing about the Lemoyne game is they are D2 and will not affect our RPI one way or another. Savannah St on the other hand is one of the worst rated RPI teams going into the season. Even a trouncing of them will not help our RPI.

Yes , home and home with Niagara and Canisius ,and playing UB would be better for bona and for other area teams too...Having a basketball program that can not schedule attractive home games doesn't make much sense.

I hope our RPI matters this year because that means we will be a NCAA team, but we aren't there yet I don't think so let's just find wins in our non-conference to boost the win total rather than worry about our RPI.
