Corey Chandler does not make it to the first day of practice. Rumors of Corey's drug use sure sounds legit. Funny comment was Broadus calling himself the "captain steering this ship."

I've lost count - is that 6 ? 7 ? players off the team in 2 days. I understand Mayben, but it smells like the 5 today were cut loose because Broadus figured he had to look tough in order to save his job. What did all 5 suddenly do in the 2 days since Mayben was arrested to warrent being dumped ? Maybe they weren't toeing the line, but it sounds like that was standard operating procedure until yesterday. And Broadus recruited all of these kids. Is he really going to pretend he's shocked that they are not choirboys ? It's one thing to take a chance on 1 or maybe 2 kids, but 7 at a time ? Clearly Broadus was not in control of those kids. Guess it's easier to take their scholarships and pretend you're suddenly running a tight ship than to do the hard work to run a disciplined program. Broadus should be the one heading out the door.

The Bearcats roster now has zero point guards and one player under 6-5. Sounds like a good time to be a walk-on candidate at BU. But here's what I found even more comical (link below): [Meanwhile, at the administrative level, Carl Hayden, the Elmira lawyer who is chairman of the SUNY Board of Trustees, said Friday that he and SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher have exchanged e-mails over a two-day period regarding the recent Tiki Mayben arrest. She did not ask Hayden for his advice, Hayden said, but was simply keeping him up to date. “She has a great deal of experience in this realm,” Hayden said, referring to Zimpher's previous job as president of the University of Cincinnati.] It sure didn't take long for this scandal to shoot up the hierarchy of the entire SUNY system. Look out, Kevin Broadus. www.pressconnects.com/article/20090925/NEWS01/90925035/Five-players-released-from-BU-basketball-team&referrer=FRONTPAGECAROUSEL

“She has a great deal of experience in this realm,” Hayden said, referring to Zimpher's previous job as president of the University of Cincinnati.] Above comment from Hayden, is one of praise and not an indictment. Zimpher had the courage to fire Huggins, who was in charge of a very profitable basketball program and a popular head coach (among alumni) at Cincinnati. With Zimpher's involvement I expect we'll see Thirer (AD), Broadus (head coach) and possibly DeFleur (school president) to be fired. DeFleur and Thirer were in denial of problems in article from New York Times this February. www.nytimes.com/2009/02/22/sports/ncaabasketball/22binghamton.html?pagewanted=3&_r=3&sq=binghamton%20university%20basketball&st=cse&scp=3

Does this mean we can count Binghamton as a win?

So.... this means Corey Chandler is available???
Only kidding. Glad we didn't get mixed up with him.

Sad to see Chandler waste his considerable talents. He goes from Big East Rookie of The Year to a down soph season & now bounced from two teams within a matter of months. Few coaches have the skill set to deal with high maintenance players like Corey. I hope he gets his life in order.

looks like we dodged a bullet there ..... suppose we learned a valuable lesson with Mo Thomas with high maintenance players and to a degree with Karon Burton...... no shortcuts, build it the right way as there are just too many good players who are good people, who want to be students, etc. ..... i.e. Sheehey, Eli Carter

UN-BELIEVABLE. As President Obama said just yesterday that only 2 out of 10 inter city kids make it out of poverty and these five prove why.
