This is a fair assessment for someone who doesn't follow the league very losely. My hopes are for much better results from the team and players but that is why you play the games.
Being the underog is a great position for this team. It will make them appreciate every win and hopefully some teams i.e. SU may overlook this team.

There is no way Bonas finishes under URI. URI took a huge hit losing Jimmy Baron Jr., and will take a step back this year. Baron Sr. will get them back in the hunt soon enough though. On a sidenote, watch out for Richmond. I think they may be underrated at 3. Geriot makes all the difference in the world for that team.

I don't see a Rick Majerus team finishing that low in his 3rd year and expect the Bonnies and St. Joe's will be better than their ranking. Who really knows how things can shake out. Kind of looks like the league has alot of parity and should be alot of close games. I do hope we establish a home court advantage because winning on the road will be difficult for everyone.

Speaking of predictions, how about the "Rivals Top 347" countdown! This show how long it takes to regain respect.Certainly is good locker room motivation.
Dayton and Xavier top 50. LaSalle, Richmond and Dukes -53, 61 & 73 Followed by Temple (97) Charlotte(100), RI (114), St.Joe (117), UMASS (123) and St.Louis( 159 ).
Bonnie's are listed at 193.
What is really eye opening and tough to swallow are the teams in front of us. Binghamton, Albany, Morgan State, Mercer, Middle Tennessee,Lipscomb, Princeton, LIU, Wofford, UNC Asheville,Belmont, Fairfield , and Campbell. This group at one time would have been OCS warm-up bait.
I'm sure the staff is licking its chops to compete, and start earning and maintaining the respect of the program.

I don't have a huge problem with this ranking coming from an outsider who doesn't know wanything about the newcomers we have. I definitely see us quite a few spots ahead of this though.

With the newcomers? Bona returns all key players from last year's 15 win team.

Lets not diminish the loss of Greese, Blackburn, Carter & Benson. They provided 1/3rd of our scoring, & 1/3rd of our rebounds. All four came under varying levels of criticism but they were all contributors to the 15 win season.
Thomas played 20mpg & his inside presence providing 6.1 rebounds and 9.4 ppg on .553 shooting. Only Jonathan & Andrew got to the line more often & Mo converted at a 71% rate. He was a key player who showed dominance in some games & will be missed.
Blackburn, prior to his injury, challenged Eleby at the point & was getting more minutes at one point. He was a shadow of himself after the injury but still played 22.5mpg, had 8ppg on .408 shooting & 81% FTs.
Benson averaged only 3ppg on his 15mpg but provided stability in handling the ball as demonstrated by his 1.78 assist/turn over ratio. He took few shots, almost all from the perimeter where his treys were team best (by far) at .404. He was opportunistic in his 2.3rpg.
Carter played 13.5mpg & gathered in 3.5 rpg while shooting only .387 scoring 3.8ppg. His inability to finish around the hole was always a source of frustration but he was a wide body inside when Greese was sitting.
Time will tell how our new additions and the improved play of returning players will match or surpass the contributions of our four departed players.

With the newcomers? Bona returns all key players from last year's 15 win team. That may be true, but I would say that our success is going to hinge much more on how good Leonard, Ogo, House, Simmons and Rosenbro are than how good the guys are that we know about.

Speaking of the newcomers, there are quite a few new faces this season. Sure would be a nice feature if the local paper were to do a full-length preview article on each player, like they do for each high school team in the Big 30. Do a different player every day, run it for about 2 weeks or so to coincide with the opening game.
Would be a good way to get to know the newcomers, and readers would have something new to look forward to every day, instead of just lumping all the previews into one tabloid-style edition, that doesn't give enough room to go in-depth on each player and coach.
Also, are they really going to charge full price tickets for that D-2 game ? Must have been a desperate last resort to add THAT game to the schedule. Wonder how many teams turned us down before we had to scrape the bottom of the barrel with LeMoyne ?
