Thanks njBonnie. A nice change of pace from the usual suspects making up for the wedgies they apparently received from the rugby squad back in the day.
I agree on the assessment about Roseboro. We should not expect him to step in and contribute quite like Andrew did, but like you say, I'm hoping he can be a good fill in for D'Lancy. Carter became a reliable role player and we'll need somebody with similar size to step in for Nicholson when things aren't quite going his way. Looking forward to the season and future updates from your group at the Bona Blog.

I'm not so interested in comparing Roseboro to Andrew or DeLancy, I'm more concerned about comparing him to Maurice Thomas and his minutes and production. There are concerns about turnovers and making 3s but another major area is rebounding especially offensive rebounding and taking pressure off Andrew.

Would be a better write up with accurate weights and measurements. The size of the team seems to change per source. How hard would it be to get this info first hand on campus ?

I was glad to see a non-rugby related post but of course ash had to ruin the harmony.

I'd be ecstatic if Brett could come in and give the team 9.4 and 6 rebounds on 20 minutes per night. I just don't think it's going to happen. For me it's hard to compare a 24 year old Junior (Thomas) to a 19 year old freshman. 5 and 5 on 10-12 minutes per night is probably more realistic. Carter was a solid bench senior who could come in and not be a total defensive liability. He came in for 10-15 minutes a night, didn't give up stupid fouls, didn't take illicit shots, and could usually finish on an open layup. I'd take those qualities plus a better FT% from Rosie any day of the week.

The BonaBlog always provides a good detailed read on Bona Hoops. I agree with the choice of Davenport as “Player to Watch.” I’m not as inclined to cite his basketball IQ as a great strength. I believe he would have seen more floor time during the first half of last season had he been a quick study with Mark’s play book on both sides of the ball. His athleticism, speed & hops are his strength.
The blog’s focus on our capacity to turn it over last season is right on target. It was our greatest deficiency along with team's inability to score the trey. The need to improve our collective handle is critical. Ogo should help in this regard but Hall & Andrew must reduce their TOs.
Pointing out Andrew’s need to improve his passes from the post is interesting. I see a greater need to more effectively deliver the ball into him in the paint. His 2nd best Conference shooting tells it all in his ability to score the ball inside. As noted, he displayed a nice outside touch & was hitting out to 17’ toward the end of the season.
Clearly, in order to improve on 15 Ws we must take care of the ball & hit more consistently from outside. However, at this point I don’t see much improvement in hitting the trey. Additionally, we must convert from the stripe. If you factor out Chris, Blackburn & Thomas’ FT shooting last year we shot a very poor 61%. Leonard’s ability to score may be the unknown factor in bettering last year’s .500 season.
