Getting that first win is always nice especially with a Big East team next up on Tues. Cleveland St. is defintely not the team they were last year. Coach has to be livid over the mindless turnovers and poor decision making on many possessions from the 8 min. mark left in the game. The absence of a quality pt. guard to take charge and be patient with the ball will be needed against better teams. That is the reason the ball was in Hall's hands so much down the stretch. Andrew was no match for the interior def. of Cleve. St., and our full court pressure caused turnovers and easy baskets that helped secure the win. Good move by Cleve. St. going to the zone in the second half , took us awhile to adjust and find some creases to get to the basket. Kudos to Davenport for a nice game!. Hope the FT shooting gets better. I believe we were 14-25. 57%.

CSU’s zones the 2nd half did break our offensive flow. They used a box & one (Chris guarded one on one) & a diamond & 2 for brief periods & the different looks slowed us down. Hall had a solid game but I question the ball in his hands late. Then again his turnovers are usually due to pushing the ball, which is not the goal with 3 mins left & up double figures.
With 10 mins left we were up by 16 & Hall attempts a home run pass that was thrown well long followed immediately by two more TOs. In just 63 seconds he throws it away 3 times & we go from 16 up to just 12 with about 8 mins left. Following those 63 seconds he played real solid but you hate to see him go to the line needing the FTs late. Another reason why I like the ball in Matthew's hands, rather than Jonathan's late with a lead. Hall continues to frustrate with his periods of sloppy play but his great upside always makes me love his overall game.

Yes down the stretch there were some mistakes but nit picking is not necessary tonight. We got a win and overall there was much to be happy about.

Hall had a solid game but I question the ball in his hands late. Then again his turnovers are usually due to pushing the ball, which is not the goal with 3 mins left & up double figures. Bonnies response to Vikings different defenses was the key to the game. First half they played primarily man defense and this was a mistake as they did not have anyone that could defend Andrew. It is close to being automatic points when Andrew receives the ball within 10 feet of the basket. Difference from last year is Andrew calling for the ball underneath. Second half Waters used a press, but Malcolm did a solid job in breaking the press. Vikings did a great job in denying Andrew the ball in the 2nd half, but this opened it up for Hall and Davenport on drives to the basket. Hall and Davenport were too athletic and physical for the Vikings wing players. Absolutely agree with WGT about Jonathan's careless turnovers, but unfortunately we have to accept the good with the bad. The Bonnies started the 2nd half tentatively and it was Jonathan's aggressive play that would have the Bonnies matching every run the Vikings would make. Have to credit Schmidt for sticking with Jonathan, especially after those 3 turnovers mentioned by WGT, which occurred between the 9:25 and 8:28 mark. After this Jonathan did not make a turnover for rest of the game.
