Even though I would much rather have this game played at the RC, its a great way for us to 1) play another Big East team. 2) Hopefully, help us with recruiting as we play teams with better b-ball reputations 3) most likely St. Johns get some part of the revenue from the gate.
If I lived even close to Rochester I would make sure I would be at this game. I hope all those in the area of Rochester and this includes Buffalo and Syracuse get out to support our team.
A win against St Johns, followed by a couple of the upcoming games can really help our program get on a fast start this year.
I say Bonas by 7, but its gonna be a close one throughout.
Also, we gotta start getting games like this televised via the net. To not have this game available with the Communication school we have is a joke.

I remember when I was asked about involving the communication school a few years back the word I got is that the communication school really isn't to helping out the SID office.

Word is that Blue Cross Arena doesn't have the necessary things to steam the game. Not sure what its missing and not sure why, but that's what I've heard.

From a student's perspective, BCA is not set up well to watch basketball. I sat in the student section for the game a few years back. The view was HORRIBLE. They made us all sit down so that the people in the bleachers behind us could see and threatened to kick anyone out who stood up. I remember I couldn't even see the court, I could only see the players waist up. I was really hoping they'd start playing games at the HSBC Arena instead. Hopefully they've solved that problem for tomorrow night's game so the students can make it a true home game.

Yes...When someone in the front of the bleachers stands. ,the people in back can't see and really don't see anything ,but someone else's backside unless they stand too.Essentially you are forcing them to stand whether they want to or not. It's kind of like playing your music at ten ..everyone in earshot has to listen.. Many people learn this in third grade.

Many people learn this in life.

The student section is right at the level of the court which is also at the level of the first row of bleachers. Therefore, those in the student section cannot see the game when forced to sit down to preserve the view of those in the first row of the bleachers.

I'm still pissed they took away the blues behind the visiting bench at the RC away from the students. Let our home court be an advantage!

Word is that Blue Cross Arena doesn't have the necessary things to steam the game. Not sure what its missing and not sure why, but that's what I've heard. If that is true it's pathetic. If the RC has the capabilities you would think an arena that hosts (semi) pro events would be able to stream video.

The site that typically has all the Bonnies games streaming does not. www.channelsurfing.netTry www.ustream.tv or www.justin.tv If someone does find a live stream, post it as a new post. 5.5 pt spread tonight.

St. John's (1-0) vs. St. Bonaventure (1-0)
The Sports Network
DATE & TIME: Tuesday, November 17th, 7:00 p.m. (et)
FACTS & STATS: Site: Blue Cross Arena (12,428) -- Rochester, New York. Television: . Home Record: St. John's 1-0, St. Bonaventure 1-0. Away Record: St. John's 0-0, St. Bonaventure 0-0. Neutral Record: St. John's 0-0, St. Bonaventure 0-0. Conference Record: St. John's 0-0, St. Bonaventure 0-0. Series Record: St. John's leads, 11-5.
GAME NOTES: The St. John's Red Storm will collide with the St. Bonaventure Bonnies this evening in a non-conference tussle at the Blue Cross Arena.
The Red Storm had little trouble in their season-opener on Friday, as the team defeated Long Island, 83-70. St. John's is looking for a bounce back season after posting a 16-18 ledger last year, and that included a 3-11 combined record in road and neutral matchups. Next up for the Red Storm will be a meeting with Brown in the Philly Hoops Group Classic.
As for the Bonnies, they also opened their new season with a victory, as they defeated Cleveland State, 72-62. The Bonnies are coming off a mediocre campaign in which the team finished with a 15-15 ledger, but that included a lackluster 6-10 mark in Atlantic-10 play.
In regard to the all-time series between the two schools, the Red Storm hold an 11-5 edge over St. Bonnies. However, this will be the first matchup between the two schools since 1985 when the Red Storm defeated the Bonnies, 85-69.
The Red Storm were not overwhelming in their opening victory over Long Island, but the team did enough to grab a 13-point decision. St. John's shot a respectable 49.2 percent from the field, but the team connected on just 10- of-28 three-point attempts, and a mere 9-of-18 foul shots. The Red Storm will have to improve in both areas is they want to continue to land in the win column. D.J. Kennedy was one of five players in double figures for St. John's as the forward led the way with 16 points and also pulled down seven rebounds. Kennedy is clearly one of the top players on the roster for St. John's, as the forward is coming off a season in which he posted 13.0 ppg, to go along with 6.6 rpg and 101 assists. Dwight Hardy added 14 points off the bench against Long Island, while Justin Burrell, Paris Horne and Justin Brownlee all contributed 12 points apiece. As for Burrell, he was also solid on the glass, grabbing a team-high eight caroms. Horne is also another major piece of the puzzle for St. John's, as the guard paced the team a year ago with 14.6 ppg and 53 steals, proving he is productive at both ends of the floor.
The Bonnies grabbed a 10-point win over Cleveland State in their opener, but the team still has plenty of room for improvement. Sure, St. Bonaventure shot 60.9 percent in the contest, but the team connected on just 2-of-8 three-point attempts, 14-of-25 shots from the charity stripe, and also committed 17 turnovers. For the Bonnies to enjoy consistent success the team will have to drastically improve in each of those areas. Jonathan Hall was outstanding in the season debut, as the guard connected on 10-of-14 shots, finishing the game with 20 points and a team-best eight rebounds. Michael Davenport came off the bench to contribute 19 points, while Andrew Nicholson added 17 points to go along with seven boards and four blocks. Hall and Nicholson are the Bonnies' top two performers, and the team will only go as far as this terrific tandem will take them. Nicholson is coming off an amazing freshman campaign in which he scored 12.5 ppg, ripped down 6.0 rpg and blocked 81 shots. As for Hall, he posted 12.9 ppg and was also solid on the glass, pulling down 6.3 rpg as well.
St. John's has dominated this series through the years, but a lot has changed since the last meeting, and right now the Bonnies look to have the upper hand. St. Bonaventure has a dangerous backcourt tandem mixed with a monster in the frontcourt, and the trio should lead the Bonnies to victory tonight.
Sports Network Predicted Outcome: St. Bonaventure 77, St. John's 74
