Did Bonas have any timeouts remaining before tossing up that desperation three? I thought it might be a good move to take time and chalk a play for Andrew who scored at will all night. I guess they had no more TOs.
Go Bonnies and thanks to Rochester for a great couple of days!

Tough loss after a great defensive effort to tie it after being down by 7 with just over 3 mins left. Their 21 more points from beyond the arc tells the story along with going 79% to our 68% from the stripe. They hit 47% treys to our 13%. That differential was too great to overcome in spite of the fact that we hit more field goals, shot a higher percentage from the floor, out rebounded them by 3, had more steals, assists and blocks & amazingly turned the ball over less (only 14). As painful as the loss was I take solace in the way we played D down the stretch and took care of the ball. Andrew showed his stuff against the two 6’8” bigs, scoring almost at will & making the two pressure FTs late. If only Michael’s trey could have found net the arena would have erupted & we would be 2-0 forgetting about our missed opportunities. In spite of the loss it was a very solid outing against an experienced & talented Red Storm team.

We will lose some more close games because we are not hitting our free throws. All last year we shot terribly and this year it continued from last game to this one. On a more positive note, we have a team that can only get better! Great effort.

Although free throw shooting will cost us, 3-pt shooting is an even bigger priority. Our percentage is so low, that teams will eventually dare us to make them, packing it tight down low to prevent Nicholson from getting the ball. We have a serious lack of shooters on this team. We need someone from the bench to prove themselves from long range. Congers, Simmons, will anyone get the chance to step up? So far, they aren't getting enough minutes to mean anything.

this happened last year also. poor free throwing plus no threes' lost a couple games for us last year. Coach Schmitt sees this and will need to correct this type of play before the A10 season starts or my Bonnies will not go 23-6 for the year.
The So Cal Kid was right on concerning the game plan of the johnnies. He also sees Cook as a Dennies Rodman type player.
Andrew was just great last night even thou he got called for his first foul about 25 seconds into the start of the game.
Ogo seems to be having trouble adjusting to Div 1 basketball.

IN all seriousness the main culprit at the ft line was Eleby. He was 1-4 while no one else really struggled all that much. He tanked our percentage and tanked a potential victory.

I understand that Eleby shot 1-4 from the line, but if I'm not mistaken didn't he come up with the steal that led to us taking the lead. And didn't he have 1 or 2 assists down the stretch when we needed them. He missed 1 of 2 free throws late in the game and that sucks, but it did not sound to me like he tanked a potential victory and actually helped us come back to provide us a chance at a W.

I still feel this game was lost on the defensive side in both halves. FT should be made at at least 85% rate I agree but too many easy buckets from inside the paint when our guys fell asleep in the back of the zone. In the 2nd half the team would play tough defense taken the Johnnies down to10 seconds or so on the shot clock and then an inside pass and a lay up. Remember also that S. John's was missing two of their best players. We should have won but we still have to get much much better.
