I'll post the results and new thread of The Points Game tomorrow. Until then, I thought we could get some discussion going about this weekend. I think we should go in expecting to come out 3-0, but most people would probably take 2-1. I really would like to see this team go 3-0 this trip as that Illinois State win would look good heading down the road. I did some perusing and found the main Illinois State message board: redbirdfan.com/msgforum/viewforum.php?f=2 Within one of the threads comes this: "I thought when the sched was announced that St. Bonaventure had the potetial to be a much tougher opponent than anyone wanted to give them credit for. I think a win against them could look pretty good as the year goes along." It's really refreshing to finally hear other teams' fans commenting that we're no longer a pushover. So what does everyone think? 2-1, 3-0? I really don't see how we come back to Olean with anything other than a 4-2 or 5-1 mark.

"Affairs of state take precendence over the affairs of state!"
Aside from being one of my favorite Mel Brooks lines from "Blazing Saddles", the above quote describes our upcoming schedule.
Our next four games and 5 of the next 6 are against state schools.
I think we lose a tough one to Illinois State and finish the tournament 2 and 1. Three games in three days. Advantage: home team.

Not a very big fan of 3 games in 3 days, but hopefully we can take at least 2 out of 3 if not all 3.

This trip is a good time for this team to start to make a statement .... by blowing out the first 2 opponents and win games against a good solid squad and program such as Illinois State.
If this team is going to be a top ½ of the standings challenger in the A10 and a factor in the A10 tourney they will need to start winning the challenging but winnable games even if they are away.
I'm sure Hall, Matthews and others want this team to be remembered for Ws against teams like Cleve State and Illinois State instead of Binghamton or the other cupcakes on our schedule.
Now is a good time to start .... 3-0 sweep could be the spring board of surpassing the 15-18 wins most of us predicted.
I look forward to seeing more of the impressive developing games of Davenport and DCook but also minutes for 3 of the frosh: Simmons, Congers & Roseboro. More dominance by Andrew, all around play from Hall & Matthews and steady leadership from the 2-PGs.

3 games in 3 is tough, but everybody's doing it, so we are all in the same boat. (unless the 'host' team screwed around and they have the most desirable early game/late game set up). We have the bodies more so than in recent years to deal with this type of schedule and I believe we are at least as well conditioned as most teams out there and better than some. For those who are frustrated with Coach Schmidt's short-leash with freshman - you may see a bit more of them (especially if we get sizeable leads in the first 2 games) in an effort to keep everybody's legs fresh.

I have a feeling we'll take the first two in much the same way that we did with Binghamton. As for ISU, I say we drop that one. Its strength is its guard play and after two games the days before we may be flat. I doubt they'll have someone to throw at Andy though, so I'm definitely not counting us out. A win over ISU would definitely be a quality win. It will definitely be a test to have our toughest opponent on the final day, one that will hopefully prepare us for the tough tail end to our NonCon, LeMoyne and Savannah excluded.

2-1 likely. 3-0 possible. It will be great to see how they compete against Illinois State. While I give the advantage to Illinois State at home, the Bonnies can win this one.

The Bonnies will sweep the three game series, not easily....but get the brooms out.

I'll talk about the possibility of a sweep after we win the first two.

As we prepare to tip off in 2 hours most are expecting an easy win. Andy comes into the game as #6 scorer in the A10 at 17.3ppg shooting an incredible 65%. Bona is 2nd to X in FG % @ 53% & we lead the A10 in defensive rebounds. I expect us to control the boards tonight BUT Russell gathered in 16 boards in a previous game & is converting at an 80% rate. They foul a lot so we should have many trips to the stripe & would like to see better #s from there. If we play good D we should keep them under 60 pts. Go Bonnies!
