On court senior leadership may be a long time in coming. It doesn't seem to be there as of now. Perhaps junior college transfers, since they only play two years, are not that capable of providing leadership in their senior years. There could be many reasons for this, including the fact that they have not been interacting with students, faculty, coaches, and teammates for very long. They also lack the so called "baptism of fire" that freshmen get in their early game experiences. The better time for senior leadership is when four year players lead. They have a better understanding that it is their team. Eleby is a senior next year, but not sure one player can lead all by himself. The more logical time for serious senior leadership will be Nicholson's and Davenport's senior year. They will not tolerate underclassmen not giving it all, or making the same mistake over and over again.
