Following the game free 8 day Christmas break it will be interesting to see how the team rebounds off their devastating 2nd half collapse. Learning from the experience while putting it behind them & focusing on Canisius is critical to getting back on the right foot.
The Golden Griffs are similar to Niagara in size. In spite of their lack of size they rebound well by committee & as a result enjoy a +2 rebound margin. Most of their damage is done on the offensive glass so everyone has to block out. They beat Buffalo & took Duquesne into double overtime only to lose so we better be prepared to play hard.. .
They are not a threat from beyond the arc (24%) but on any given night Coles might get hot from deep. They defend treys very well (under 31% for opponents) & will target Chris (who else would they target?) who will have limited open looks. Turner, Coles & Logins account for most of their scoring. Turner plays iron man mins & is their high scorer at 17.7ppg & #1 play maker at 4.8 apg.
Last season we all remember how we lost in the final 35 secs with back-to-back TOs by Calvin to gift them the win. Hopefully all our gift giving has been done this Christmas season.
As we head to the new year, The Professor is #1 FG% (.655), #8 in scoring (16.4), #3 FT% (.842), and #8 rebs @ 7.2. Hall is #4 FG% (.564). Chris is #1 in treys made shooting .429. Malcolm # 3 Assists with 4.5 apg.
