To those who have seen and followed the Bonnies game-by-game this season I inquire:
(1) has the team seem so uninspired, listless and diffident as it did tonight?
(2) do they have any defensive change-ups wherein they look to press or double up at half-court?
Just watching tonight I felt embarrassed for the team, for the school, the students and alumni. The empty seats on national TV in the 2d half were too much to take. No plan or scheme is one thing, but to see no passion is another.
I know that Solomon is an evangelical Christian, but I wonder if his philosophy that a 30 point loss is a result of God's plan, that 25% from three-point land is a path toward the promised land, and that 0-15 in the conference is a way to recognoze the Cross of Christ is really the direction the program should be headed.
From what I've seen, he's just a weird-looking short dude who falls back on the Word when things go wrong. If I were Ahmad I after that Duquesne game when Sol trotted him out in front of the media to apologize for his "prediction of victory" I would have smacked him square in his Protestant face with a copy of Paul's Epistle.

To call this national tv is a BIG stretch. It wasn't even on MSG, was it on anywhere outside of the Metro NYC area?

The game while not really national, although anyone in the country who has cable could buy it, was in fact on MSG in New Jersey.

I don't feel embarassed for the team. They were the ones that shot 25% from 3. They were the ones not defending and giving up dunks and layups. They were the ones that also missed layup after layup. Got beat down court, not on fast breaks either. They call themselves players, but the way I see it, players always play with the desire to win.
You want to blame coach, fine. But blame him for what he did poorly, not for what the guys on the court did poorly. Poor substitution patterns during the game, Sol's fault. Poor game plan at the end, Sol's fault.

Apparently Solomon tried a new offense tonight that is modeled after Villanova. Look how good that turned out... We looked lost on offense, gave up on every rebound, and the only players with any fire in them were relph, smith, and lee. Our team looks like they don't even care to play. Gotta blame the leadership for that one. I watched 2 completely different teams tonight. Fordham's offense was pretty good. McCrae was getting plenty of open shots because of it. Our offense looked like garbage, as usual. Also, it was interesting to watch all of the players on the Fordham bench cheering for their team while ours just sat there emotionless, even when we made a few comebacks. We looked like a bunch of players who were thrown together at the last minute tonight. No team chemistry whatsoever. This is all getting really old. If things don't pick up significantly next year and Solomon doesn't get the boot, I'll lose all faith in administration here. Basketball is the life of this school. When our team does poorly, the school suffers too.

I am trying to give this guy every benefit of the doubt - I am of the opinion that getting rid of him would just mean more years of pain as a new coach tried to resurrect the program - but I was just shaking my head that with 2 mins left and down around 10, he pulled Relph who was the only one hitting threes.

Gman I was stunned myself. With 2:16 left in the game Relph hits a 3 to bring the Bonnies within 8 (64-72). Immediately after Relph's 3, there is a timeout. A couple more made 3's and who knows, we might get back into this game? Stunned to see Relph benched and see him being replaced by Diggs, the worst 3 point shooter on the team (21.9% accuracy from 3's) and by AJ, who has not even attempted a 3 this year.
Magnusbu it is the coach, who is responsible for the development of the players, so they do not make these repeated mistakes.

Not sure why anyone would be surprised or stunned that Sol would pull Relph when he was actually making shots.....he does this all the time.....he did it to Lee too last night right after he made back to back buckets. These guys can't be getting in any rythm. And on a non-coaching point - how come Paul Williams never throws down a dunk instead of using the glass, I mean we all know that don't work for him...the dude is 6'10 ..Throw it down!!

Any coach in the nation would leave Lee in the game for 35 min. minimum. You don't pull Relph from the game. When the other team is killing your man to man defense by setting constant picks, you make an adjustment. Patrick Sloppin playing as much as he did - WHY? There comes a point in the season where you Sol supporters have to take a good long look at root of the problems. Bad schemes, bad substitutions, and bad gameplans eventually effect the players to the point where they buy into it. These players realize that they can't win. They realize that if you are having a good game "IT DOESN'T MATTER" you're going to get pulled. The "WILL" of this team is broken. I think it's time to ask the question, "Do you make a move now, or do you suffer through another horrible season?" Either way, you're going to effect recruiting.....
