The Spiders, 4-5 in conference play, will provide coach Sol & staff the opportunity to see the Princeton Offense up close. Coach Mooney played for legendary Pete Carril at Princeton & as a proponent of the system has used it at Air Force & now at Richmond. His players are dealing with the learning curve but have been quite successful picking it up. Those at the RC may think Mooney & his assistant coach are students since both are so young (33 & 32 respectively). The Spiders played X tough in their last game, leading at the half in a game that saw 19 lead changes. X pulled away midway through the 2nd half because they wore the Spiders down who are rotating only 8 players. Richmond and the Bonnies are on different ends of the spectrum when it comes to D. Spiders are #3 in the nation (#1 in the A10) in scoring defense while our Bonnies are next to the bottom of the A10. They allow only 55ppg due to their style of play, size and shot blocking abilities. This is physical team with a 6’7” point guard, 6’5” shooting guard, 6’7” small forward, 6’7” PF and 6’11” center. In spite of their size I still expect us to present problems to them on the glass. Due to their size, its surprising that almost half their shots come from beyond the arc. After their last visit to the RC they walked away with a 20 point win. We are 0-5 against them with 3 of our loses by more than 18 points. Keys to playing well against the Spiders are keeping Bucknor from hitting lots of treys, pushing the ball up the floor as much as possible & taking it to the hole to try & get them in foul trouble. They have no bench & against X they ran out of gas. Making treys against the Spiders is tough but maybe Tyler will continue his improved 3-ball shooting along with Dunston. I would love to be at the RC to see that Princeton style in person. Saw it used by Georgetown & Northwestern. Better yet, I wish I could be there to offer support to a team in great need of it. Go Bonnies!

I believe I'm correct. 0-5 lifetime. Of course one was a forfeit in 02-03 when the players wouldn't show up for the coach/University.

Phantom, wgt, you're both right. 61-55 SBU, on Feb 8th 2003. Marques had 27, Ahmad 16.
Note (from the '03-'04 media guide) on that game: Bonnies went 17-17 from the FT line in the second half. When was the last time we saw anything close to that?

What Richmond is doing this year is a great example of what a good defense will do for you. They really like to slow down the pace of the game. Think St. Joe's pace. When they are allowed to play this style they are successful.
The key for the Bonnies on Sunday will be getting out quickly and trying to play an uptempo game.
I'll say 63-56 Bonnies since I can't pick against our boys.
