IMO, the problem with this discussion in general is a tendancy to combine the argument about patience and the argument about coaching into one argument. None of the people that advocate patience will allow for the possibility that a. its going to take a while to recover from this mess AND b. we have the wrong coach to get it done.
To simply say "its going to take five to seven years, therefore Sol should stay" are operating from a really bad premise: all you need to be successful is time. I'd argue that if you have a bad coach, you can give him a hundred years and it will not matter. If its going to take a while, let it take a while. The idea that we are going to lose players, recruits because of a perceived lack of stability is only valid if we arent also going to lose players, recruits due to having a coach that doesnt improve his talent, and may not be relevant to his players.
St. Bonaventure was hard a hard sell when we made the Nit, the Nit again, and then the NCAA Tourney. It was hard to recruit here when we destroyed UConn in their barn, and it was hard to recruit here when we recently sent a player to the NBA. Imagine how hard it will be if someone makes the insane decision to go to the MAAC, under a coach that hasnt shown an iota of improvement.
I say this BECAUSE I support the team and the University. Show me a hustling, tough, but outmanned team that has a great offensive plan that just can't measure up personnel-wise, and I'll buy the Sol needs more time theory. Until then, you are just throwing away seasons.

DEFENSE That should be #1
Keep the coach. It's a lot easier for us to coach the team from our respective seats in the RC and bar stools nationwide.

Mattwellagain… not only are you a neat sign maker but you hit the nail on the head pointing out the #1 need is improved D. Most posts have focused on the lack of an offensive scheme & coach not having a clue. Yet we are averaging 68ppg an increase of 7pts from last year (# 6 in the A10). Our shooting % has improved significantly from .390 to .428 (# 7 in A10). Scoring inside has improved dramatically due to Paul’s 13ppg, which greatly exceeds the combined scoring of Saulis & Kuba of only an anemic 4.7ppg. Our one glaring offensive area of need is the 3-ball & Tyler is starting to address that but needs more help. Our D has improved but requires much greater improvement to see Ws in the A10. Bottom line is our offensive capabilities are in the middle of the A10 pack but our D is right at the bottom. D wins games as evidenced by our visiting Spiders who score only 52ppg but are 4-5 in Conference play & gave X fits until their 8 man rotation just wore out down the end. On Sunday we will see how a defense ranked #3 in the nation can affect the outcome when playing the Bonnies who have scored more, rebounded better, & shot better except from beyond the arc. Agree, D is a critical shortcoming & needs addressing.
