Combine jersey with 30 yr NIT ??

In keeping with the topic of no jerseys being hung in 35 years....and an opportunity to re-connect with past alums...next year (2006/2007)marks the 30 years since the NIT Championship team. Perhaps a jersey hanging could be combined with a tribute to that team alumni weekend game that year ?
This type of re-connecting is fun...but its also good business. Alums who feel re-connected to the school are far more likely to donate to the BAF. Also Hoops is also a big business and the success/failure of it often depends upon recruiting...we have many former players out there still involved with hoops in some way and when they feel re-connected might possibly help recruit a player or 2. Some even have relatives who play like Essie Hollis.
Currently we have a former SBU player Sam Graham feeling so disconnected that he's pointing European players he knows to UB...that should not be happening....but is a result of wickenheiser 'stiff arming' away any alumni....
Lets turn this around and welcome them back....a small welcoming community is St Bonas niche....

excellent idea, JH...in fact, the final four team has been gathering informally for many, many years. This gathering has grown into quite an annual event. I would bet anyone a fish fry at the old village inn in allegany that if SBU put on its marketing hat and had a gathering that combined both the final 4 team and the NIT champion team sometime around alumni weekend--and invited the public that they would get a large crowd...

I believe the Final Four team and the NIT team are having a get-together in Olean this summer. Sometime in early August, I believe. Don't know if parts of it will be for the public or not, hope it is.

Also, the 1961 era Bonnies are having a reunion too, sometime in July, on Long Island.
