For what it's worth, our recruiting class ( minus James) was ranked 73rd. No other A-10 team ranked higher.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering what his talent rating is for each recruit and the average. It seems to me that the average talent rating is a better indicator of how good a recruiting class is. Quality versus quantity. Our average talent rating last year was 3.0, and ranked around 5th or 6th in the A10. Xavier was first with 4.5 I recall. Can you post the info for 05?

I think it's worth a lot - after all we've been thru, it's a door-opener for future recruiting to be able to say that we had the highest ranked recruiting class of anyone in the A-10 by a major pub for 05-06. Face it, we need all the positives we can get, and this is a good one. Of course, Sol might want to skip the number 73 - kind of amazing no one in the A-10 did better than that - St. Joes needs players and look how much ink they're gotten in the past 2 years - and what about X or Charlotte? they're always strong - 73rd is the best in the conference?

our "hoop scoop" ranking for 2004 was;
102. ST. BONAVENTURE (11 Points)..........4 Recruits..........3.0 Talent Rating Average Per Recruit..........Atlantic-10 Conference..........(4) Wade Dunston, 6'4, 2G, Iowa Western (JC) IA; (3) Willie Morse, 6'5, 2G, State College (H.S.) PA; (2) Michael Lee, 6'8, PF, West Palm Beach (Cardinal Newman) PA; (2) Isaiah Carson, 6'1, 2G, Springfield (South) OH.
quantity counts...hence our high ranking for 2005!
So is or will MLee be the biggest overachiever in this A-10 recruiting class?

Did you know last year's ranking had Lamar ranked 4th, while North Carolina was ranked 82nd. Hoopscoop rankings are misleading, because rankings are skewed by the number of recruits signed. Such as last year Lamar had 9 recruits signed for a total of 33 points. On the other hand North Carolina signed only 2 recruits for 13 points. By the way North Carolina's star freshman Marvin Williams was one of the 2 recruits. If there is anything of any value it is Hoopscops talent rating for recruits. In comparison North Carolina had a 6.5 average talent rating to 3.7 for Lamar. I have to admit I'm disappointed to see Hoopscoop giving only a 3 to each of our recruits. Hawkins is obviously better than a 3. Here is a link to last year's Hoopscoop rankings (Bonnies are ranked 102) www.hoopscooponline.com/members/toprecruitingclassestodateclass2004.html

Anyone with a subscription have the ability to post the 05 recruiting class details? JH posted this information on April 24th titled "Hoopscoop ranks recruiting." You'll have to go back to the 5th page in the archives.

Among recruiting services/experts, Clark Francis is not exactly held in the highest regard. I wouldn't give Hoop Scoop a lot of credence. Player ratings have been known to change depending on who they sign with. The recruiting pundits on the A-10 board have been trashing Hoop Scoop for years.

if you find some "juicy" information, why not just copy/paste on this site...too many users getting access through this loophole will eventually give it away....
guess I'm lazy as well!
thanks...

Below are all the schools tied with SBU in points (15). Interesting comparison in terms of # of signed recruits, average talent rating, etc. I agree that Hawkins and maybe Diggs/Ivan (because he rates jucos higher, giving them props for experience, hence Dunston's 4.0 rating last year) should have been ranked in the 3.5-4.5 range.
