Impressive 2nd half rally by OU Sunday night sent a cooked Dayton team home. The Flyers were running on fumes but still played gallantly -- cut it to four with under :20 left but lost by 6. OU shackled Dibert and Pierre.
So, that's it Fort Pitt for the A-10 in the Dance. In the NIT, Temple eliminated GW Sunday. Richmond is in a tight battle with Arizona State as I type, and URI is at Stanford on the left coast late.
Back to the NCAAs for a moment -- what a fascinating East Regional is taking shape this weekend at the Dome. I'm pulling for UNI to down Louisville for the right to play NC State, and Sparty and Oklahoma will have at it. That's a 5 or 4 vs. and 8, and a 7 vs. 3. So much for 'Nova and Virginia -- huge disappointments.

Being from Philly, that Nova loss was so predictable.. Every yr, Jay fields a team that can drill the three, but they only have one, maybe two "big men", and it ALWAYS comes back to haunt them in the Tournament... You are def right, it is shaping up to be a good ending in the East!

The A-10 teams were not impressive. The Big East teams were not impressive either, only Xavier left.

63-61 and with .02 sec left Miami had 6 players on the floor, but the ref had not handed the ball to the UM player to inbound or the Spiders could have tied it

Too bad about Richmond falling in the NIT quarters. Played a sound first half but give Miami credit for a comeback win on the road and the Canes earned that Garden ticket.
The only A-10 team left hoops-wise is the Dayton women, who draw Louisville in the Albany Region semis on Friday. The winner then gets destroyed by UConn in the regional final.

Dayton women have enjoyed a nice NCAA run incl wins over Kentucky and Louisville.
But realistically, it would take a miracle to hang with, let alone shock, Geno's all-stars. A 15-20 pt loss in the regional final would be an accomplishment for UD considering how UConn obliterates their foes.

That being said, women's CBB NCAA tournament might be the most pointless tournament on earth. In all likelihood, the championship game will be a 40 point blowout.

That being said, women's CBB NCAA tournament might be the most pointless tournament on earth. In all likelihood, the championship game will be a 40 point blowout. It's mostly bad because they don't let any non-BCS schools in as at larges (two this season, 7-seed Dayton made the elite 8, and 11-seed Gonzaga made the Sweet 16). And because WBB has two more scholarships than MBB to help the BCS offset football for Title IX, which lets them horde things that are in short supply: like athletic post players, which are rare.
