Ther seems to be no organized area where sbu recruits. We are as wild as Cheney with a gun.
We are located in the northeast. Previous successful recruits have come from NYC, Rochester, Buffalo, Washington, new jersey. Our student body is from this area. I came to this school because two of my friends came here.
We have had great players from this area and some were out of school a year and then we took them. Fred Crawford, jim Baron are two with a number of others like them who came here to play ball after being out of HS a year. Why dont we pursue these type of players. Others Like Bill Butler, matt gantt, Glen Price and Greg Sanders were not highly recruited in the dc area. Hagan, mark Jones and Urzetta were from Rochester.WHY ARE WE GOING TO iDAHO TO GET MEDIOCORE PLAYERS that cant get anyone else to recruit them I think Solomon should go to Newport News, Va where he is from. They have a great many good players in that area.
Sadly i believe Solomon wont do the job and we will not be successful unless we get A Bobby Gonzales who knows where to recruit.
Go Bonnies.

Why on earth is Solomon going to junior colleges in the western U.S. to recruit so-so players when there are decent players in the NY/OH/PA/DC areas who are probably more recruitable because SBU is close to home? And aren't those the main recruiting areas for prospective SBU students anyway?
I have been a huge supporter of Coach Solomon. But I've been really wondering about him since the latter part of this past season. Some of those losses truly should have been wins. Coupled with the erratic/scattered recruiting and the loss of Coach Gee I believe that this upcoming season is going to be a complete disaster (how about a season with O wins.....that's the handwriting that's starting to appear). I'm not sure at this point what can be done to turn the Titanic around. Perhaps the upcoming disaster will be a blessing because it will finally force the administration to critically review the mens' basketball program and make a comittment one way or another (probably hooking up with the MAAC).

If you look at where Jermanine Calvin was going to visit after his trip to Bonaventure he sounds like a very good get for Bonaventure. Also the Aussie, is just what this team needs a guy who can hit the three his 3 pt. % was 10% than the team's average last year. Also, Bonaventure is not done recruiting yet, so everyone needs to calm down. Coach adds a post player with the final scholarship and everything will be alright. What do you want a high school player that is a year or two away or do you want a contribute now JUCO player. Give me the JUCO...

Gee....and so many on this board want to keep Sol because he's a great recruiter, despite any lack of coaching ability....now what?

For those who don't like the JUCO trend I would not be surprised to see it more of it next year with the Bonnies hopefully adding a guy like Cassin Diggs 6'10 260 out of Williamsport, PA. Calvin was supposed to take visits to TCU and BYU, but thankfully he committed on his trip at Bonaventure. I have no problem competing with Mt. West/WAC teams for players.

Jermaine is a great addition. He provides playmaking & the ability to make lots of steals that we have been missing from our guards. A big piece to our puzzle.

Funny Jermaine Calvin lands here partially as a result of Keion Mitchem committing to TCU. Small world, huh?
It's also good to hear some good news on Calvin, as in the quality company recruiting him. I must say his stats didn't sweep me off my feet, but he looks like he might be an interesting combination of Diggs and Carson in terms of being a defensive-minded playmaker without much of a jumper who enjoys getting to the rim and finishing. I also didn't feel the loss of Carson necessarily warrented a PG replacement, so to speak, but I like the dynamic Calvin brings. Hell, give me any guard that can defend at one end an run an offense at the other.
Who cares if Chuck Pollack and others aren't "excited." I know I'll be come November 8.

Some of you people need to try to be a little bit more consistent. I see some of the same people who have posted that they want Sol fired for not turning the program around more quickly and then posting that they should not be bringing in jucos for a quick fix.
Then we have posters like Bonafide who claims to be a "huge supporter" of coach Sol and yet wants nothing more than failure for the team so that we can drop down to the MAAC.
I think we should give Sol the freedom to turn the program around in the way he thinks best. If we need to have a few years of a high concentration of jucos, so be it. This will help get us more wins more quickly, and then add more four year players down the road.
We appear to be steadily improving our talent base. Keep it up Sol!
