Like the schedule. Six home wins and 4 away? 10-6? Also Taryn Shull will be leaving the team and transferring to Northwest Missouri State. Closer to her home in Iowa. Leaves 12 players. Hoping Nyla Rueter returns to form and Gabby Richmond plays to her capabilities. Expect all three returning freshmen to have solid seasons.

Losing Kate is indeed a big loss. Thank you, Kate, for all you did for Bona's and for how well you represented us. Congrats on the new position and the opportunity to return to Ohio. Best of luck!!

Also Kate Achter is leaving to take a coaching position at Xavier. Big loss for the program. Will miss Kate, and I am sure so will Crowley and the players. www.goxavier.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/052815aab.htmlAny idea who will be her replacement. Love to see Priscilla Edwards come back. Since her departure our NYC recruiting has been limited, but with Kate gone, it probably will effect our midwest recruiting.

I enjoyed having Kate on staff -- she provided instant credibility -- and never looked forward to this day that I knew was coming! That said, I'm sure Crowley set her up for this move and this was the right time for her to leave. Perhaps her new role as Associate Head Coach meant more strategic and behind the scenes work, but she didn't seem all that visible this year.
Coach Andi has been the main recruiting liaison the past couple of years and her personality/style seems to fit this role well. She has been focusing in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest. I think Crowley has given up on recruiting the NYC kids, given the recent experiences with Dixon, Ortega, and Wilson. Also, it had been his strategy to move recruiting away from NY/NJ/PA, etc. because there are "too many schools [there] recruiting the same kids," I recall him being quoted in the Moneyball article from a few years ago.
While Kate did a super job working with Jess Jenkins and others during the Sweet 16 year, I'm not sure that she was all that successful in recruiting. Since the current senior class, which actually signed before the Sweet 16 appearance, our recruiting has been weak. I think Crowley is directly responsible for signing Healy, Ruff, Drummond, and Maycock (area kids). And Priscilla probably had a large hand in bringing on Gabby and Hannah. Perhaps Kate gets credit for Nyla, Imani, and making the early in-roads with Erin Wood, but she is also responsible for Oney Harrison.
I'm not sure who we get, but believe it has to be a non-alum -- since we already have two on staff. I think MVT is more suited towards sports administration than coaching, but she would be available if she doesn't plan to use her recent master's degree in teaching. Armelia still lives in the area, but she hasn't shown an interest in the profession. I'm sure there are many good candidates out there, but our limited pay is the major obstacle working against us. Crowley likes to bring in "new blood" ... so it will be interesting!

I've changed my mind overnight -- I think MVT would be a really good choice! Other than Crowley, she would bring a link to the Sweet 16 team, who better to work with our "bigs," and she could further expand the midwest footprint to WI, MN, etc. Also, the current players would have familiarity with her, as she's been their academic coordinator and also was part of the practice squad two seasons ago. She has the advantage of already knowing the school/culture compared to a non-alum that would have to learn and having three alums on staff would make a strong statement to the ties that former players have to the program. Finally, I like the fact that she was a contributor to the Women's Locker Room project! (Almost forgot: she's an A-10 Legend!) I may have posted this article in the past, but I love it! If she still feels this way about basketball, this is her opportunity! www.thebvnewspaper.com/2013/11/14/bona-b-ball-star-returns-in-new-role/Note: my choice from 2010 -- although it happened two years later! bonabandwagon.proboards.com/thread/6795/womens-basketball
