i remember reading someone suggesting a while back (was it you class70?) that this would be a good major for bonas to offer to incoming students...well, starting in 2016 it will be and congrats to all who worked to make it possible...

I had thought that started this semester? What is Hilbert's role in it?

I had thought that started this semester? What is Hilbert's role in it? bonas will provide the expertise in computer science and hilbert will provide the expertise in computer security and information assurance, per the statement on sbu.edu...

Yes, I made that suggestion. My son has parlayed his experience as an Army Signal Corps officer into a great civilian career handling network security for the State of Texas. For obvious reasons, there is a great demand for this type of expertise. Every business and government office in the country needs to get on it.

Will all the courses be at the Bona campus or some at Hilbert?

According to the press release from SBU, classes will be taught via distance learning. I believe this is good start in working together. This is probably a by product of the so called "merger discussions."
Adding a new major to the university is a good step forward. If enrollment is to increase the university will need to add more majors. It is my understanding nursing, Ot and PT are being considered for future majors.
Freshman moved on campus yesterday.

Now that we've got this one started, here's another career field that offers great employment opportunity: forensic accounting. It should be easy to add this as a concentration, given our existing accounting and computer science expertise. More info here: www.acfe.com/career-path-forensic-accountant.aspxIn addition, I would be all over anything that deals with two burgeoning trends in our society: aging and crime.

A 5 year BSW/MSW Gerontology major would be a super program for SBU. The need for gerontologists is exploding with the baby boomers aging. And.... I'd love to see a sports related PT major. Would seem to be a very good fit for the University.

I mean an entirely in-house SBU PT program. The 3 + 3 PT program with Daemen is OK...but PT is one articulated program that I think would be a real attraction to prospective students if the program all took place in the SBU academic arena and the awarded PT degree is a SBU degree.

Don't laugh me off the planet here, but being an ex Phys. Ed. major at Bona's 77' what about a major in athletic administration or sports management. I know Springfield College offers these majors and they are extremely popular and offer a good job market. Just a thought.

That also provides a whole flock of interns to the athletics program. Since many on this board seem more concerned about athletics than the institution as whole, that should be appealing to all.
