If Bonas would offer to the teamate of McGee (I think Mcadam)(sp.) we might get both. MCadam (sp.) was the player of the year in Rochester, but many think he is too small for D1. He is a quality kid that some think would develop into a contributor. It might be a nice change to get 2 four year players.

Magee has been released from his LOI with Canisius. Would be surprised if the release did not include some restrictions on which schools he could sign with.

Watching McAdam play several times this year reminded me of Jack Leasure's senior year at McQuaid. They both struck me as usually being the best 'basketball player' on the floor but probably a step too slow, a little too light, not quite strong enough and not quite tall enough to translate their high school game to D1. Leasure is a better 3 pt shooter and that has bought him success at the low D1 level at Coastal Carolina. McAdam ran Fairport's offense very well and clearly made his teammaates (including Magee) better. McAdam always seemed to hit the clutch shot, grab a key rebound, or get to the line when the team needed him. But in January, when Keion Mitchum of East High broke a few Fairport ankles on a crossover for an easy layup, I said to myself 'that's a D1 player.' I do not believe McAdam could have made a similar move. All that said, both Coreys seem to be quality kids that SBU would be proud to have-esp. if it only cost one scholarship. the term recruited walk-on comes to mind. By the way, Magee also has younger brothers. Also, on Good Friday, when new CC coach Parotta, was set to meet with the Magees--Corey (and one of said brothers, I believe) were at the "Way of the Cross" walk through Fairport decked out in new Canisius sweatshirts. As it was supposed to be a time of somber reflection, I didn't bother him with any questions.

I just read on the Canisius board that Magee has, in fact, been released from his LOI. I guess Parotta visited in the afternoon on Good Friday and not in the morning or Magee just likes the sweatshirt. I certainly hope that our staff has already placed calls to Magee. While, I like the sound of Dorainvil, I'd prefer a four year player who may develop into a solid A10 PF in a couple of years.

I agree JH! There are too many small thinkers on the board. Nothing against MAGEE or even MACADAM but WE NEED FRANTZ DORSAINVIL! We need to be better sooner than later so I'd worry about the 4 year players in the class of 2007. FRANTZ Is the closest prospect to an "impact" player out there. I'd also chance his academics and attitude. We lost too many games last year because we couldn't get that "key" rebound in the final minutes. FRANTZ would make PAUL WILLIAMS and MICHEAL LEE better along with not throwing J MORRIS into the fire immediately. Sure, I'd rather have all 4 year players, thats the main way mid-majors get better, but these are different circumstances and we need to hope the staff can bring in FRANTZ.

Magee was released from his LOI, but I don't think that there were any restrictions placed on him. The way he was talking about it in the Albany Times-Union, Siena seems like a realistic landing place for him, implying that he is allowed to sign with other MAAC schools. I doubt they would restrict SBU and allow MAAC schools.

Of course I want the 'best player' available. Winning is the fastest and surest way to rebuild ours or any program. The main reason I want/wanted Magee also is to start showing that SBU gets the recruits it should and that they WANT to come to SBU. SBU would have received so much free publicity had Magee committed in the fall. Every article all winter said something like "Magee, who'll play at Canisius next fall..." What does that say to future recruits in the Rochester area. What does it say to potential paying students from the Rochester area. I looked at SU, Cornell, LeMoyne, Siena. It was not a contest. Bonas was the only school I wanted and a lot of that came from seeing them almost annually in the old Kodak Classic. One visit to campus and it was over-I had found a home. It does not have to be that much different for student-athletes as it was for me. I loved that the 2 CSI guys committed so soon after (or while) visiting. Other than Dave Fox, I do not remember that happening in a looong time. We need to start building a program. We should not settle for hunting and pecking at individual spring signees.

James Williams came in on the Friday before Legend's Night. He stayed until Sunday and committed via phone call to Solomon later Sunday night. I believe Terron Diggs also committed shortly after his visit last spring.
