Great to hear the athletics staff is adding a new video board to hang at center court. Thank you to the donor. (Jp butler reported this via Twitter)

I really hope it is up to some people's standards. Id hate to see a D3 level scoreboard So do I. Because I suspect this is sarcasm I suggest you read about any successful athletic program (Urban Meyer teams, Calipari etc...) and notice how they focus in on details and the small stuff to the point of type of lighting in the locker rooms. It all matter and it all is part of an image you are selling to visitors and recruits A school as small as bonaventure it's even more important to get the small stuff right because that's mostly all we have. We need to get it right and not waste any funds just to barely meet expectations of a D-1 basketball team. Save and do it right, not just sling it and do it because. But please continue the "it's fine" mentality our school has "thrived" on for the past 30 years...it's working great.

thebonafan08 -Who died and made you the arbitrar of what is good enough? Unless you are the generous donor behind this, zip it. Your threatened criticism without any knowledge of what is being purchased is ridiculous. You could at least wait until there are details out as to what is being proposed. It will be a significant upgrade to what we have now.
Thank you to the donor! You are making all of our Bonas basketball experiences better! A better weight room is also much appreciated and hopefully that upgrade will show up on the court and on the playing fields of all Bonas sports.
(PS - thebonasfan08, I take that back if indeed you are the donor! Otherwise, didn't your mother teach you that it isn't wise to look a gift horse in the mouth?)

For anyone who has ever ran their own business or worked for a small company that is not a corporation, when I hear 08 talk about saving to get it right I can just sigh. Small businesses and private entities like Bonas don't have savings. Every dollar is spent on something. You work with a budget and hope you can accomplish what you want within the budget. Hey 08...there is no such thing as savings at a Bonas. That is reality. Not the fantasyland you live in when you compare us with Ohio State, Kentucky and a lot of other large universities with big publicly funded budgets. Whatever we bought will be an upgrade over what we had. Tim Kenny deserves credit for getting this to happen and Thank You to the donor. Is it me or does this guy pick everything apart? Polish up your blog...it's starting to look stale!

From what I am seeing so far it looks like the video board is going to be nicely done. It is the same company that did the Cleveland Cavaliers new video board. If that is the case it would be ANC Sports. Here is their website. ancsports.com/products/

Here are some college examples: ancsports.com/media/college/I would expect and be happy with something similar to the providence overhang, as the ceiling clearance is pretty low at the RC. ancsports.com/projects/providence/

The ANC video boards look nice. Thank you to the donor. With a video board comes graphics responsibilities. I imagine the athletic department has a plan there as its not easy. Would be a place for a student to gain valuable real world experience too

Polish up your blog...it's starting to look stale! Disclaimer: This is independent of the video board because I don't know anything about it. The idea that because an organization has a limited budget means they should do things half-assed (my words not yours) is an opinion I don't share. While these types of organizations have to be careful about how they spend their money I'd rather they be strategic about creating significant improvements in limited (or single) areas instead of creating marginally incremental improvements everywhere. The consumers of the product whether its the players, fans, media, or casual bystanders will be more likely to recognize and reward a significant jump in a particular area vs a hundred 1% improvements. Again, this video board may be a significant upgrade, I have no idea, but using limited budget as a crutch for why we don't do anything great is a recipe for continued mediocrity.

Thank you KA, unfortunately very few on this board understand this concept. I hope the video board is a worthy upgrade too, as a previous poster mentioned something like Providence would be great.
