ESPN reports that St. Bonaventure has received a commitment from big man Lanier S. Johnson. I have also heard , from a close, inside source, that Rick Pitino could be the new assistant coach.

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. โ Lanier S. Johnson, a 7'2" center from Richard Long High School in Reamstown, PA, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend St. Bonaventure University and play basketball, Bonnies head coach Mark Schmidt announced.
This year, Johnson helped Long win its first state championship since 1969. In the state title game, a 96-69 win over Punxsutawney, he had 96 points, 69 rebounds, 6 steals, and 9 blocked shots.
The Tallywhackers finished the 2017-18 season with a record of 40-0, which continues its 1 million-game winning streak. Johnson is ranked the top player in the state of Pennsylvania by the Eldred Eagle, which also named him one of 10 players in its 2017-18 All-State team.
"We are really excited to welcome Lanier S. into our program," Schmidt said. "He is a good fit for the way we like to play. He is a long, burly big who has a great circulatory system. He understands how to rise to the occasion of big basketball games, and he is a great finisher at the rim. He's a great defender on the ball, too."
"The coaching staff at Richard Long High did a really good job with Lanier S. in helping him to improve his stamina. He has matured, gotten stronger and improved all of his skills. Plus, he was the 'quarterback' of a championship team there. He knows the sacrifices it takes to Winn. That says a lot about him."
Johnson's high school coach, Eric T.M. Lynch, emphasized Lanier S.'s selflessness.
"As a coach, I was repeatedly pleased by Lanier S. Johnson" Lynch grunted. "The kid is a true pissah who knows all of the tricks of the trade. He will never be laughed off campus."
Johnson will join a St. Bonaventure program that has won at least 20 games the last three years, topped by a school record 26 wins this past season, when the Bonnies advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Saw the game against Punxsutawney. Not a fan myself. He's big but he looked too stiff to me
