Hope I'm wrong again, but it seems Akok would be an extremely unlikely get. Hasn't necessarily narrowed it down yet, but seems to be really into Cuse (ugh), UNC, and Uconn. Come on man.......

As a class, Lofton, Osunniyi, and Welch remind me of the Tim Winn, Caswell Cyrus, David Capers group, although Capers ended up in that class due to a redshirt (Not shortchanging Okoli and Melki, just don't know that much about Okoli. I would expect Melki to be the usual solid JUCO that Schmidt has had throughout his tenure).

I have a good feeling about Osun. I’m pretty sure Lofton is working on him already. Quote me on this later. Told ya!

Everyone ready for the most boring summer in recent history? When was the last time SBU had a full roster in May?

But will it be full in June?

Think Akok is a logical recruit. Why would you not want to join 2 of your teammates who made a magical championship at the prep level and see if you can do it again on a National level. Clearly worth our time and effort to be involved in his recruitment and now with credibility.

Can we beat Syracuse three teams in two years? That would be so amazing...

I hope Coach Schmidt and Mrs Coach Schmidt are sitting over a big steak dinner and toasting each other. Talk to coaches - often, the kids do a lot of recruiting for you. I am sure that happened here. Don’t care. Schmidt, apparently down a man, signed a stellar, fill-all-the-gaps class.
Tough work ahead. But for ‘tonight’, enjoy that glass of wine with Mrs.

I may be wrong, but I get the feeling that Schmidty's next glass of wine will be his first. Go Bonnies!

bjif...Agree that Akok is a logical recruit. We recognized his unique ability to block tons of shots & knock down treys a while back.
We offered Akok 21 months ago along with 6 others. He now has 19 offers with Cuse & Gtown late to the party offering in March.
At 6'7 he is a power forward! Rated as the #1 player in CT and #1 in the North East class of 2019. Rated the best outside shot & shot blocker. He is highly sort after.
As a junior at PSA he had 13 ppg & 6 rebs. He will have a monster senior year.

As I continue to uselessly try to analyze this recruiting classs, I am reminded of many Christmas mornings when I saw all the neat-o (yes, that used to be used very often) new playthings under the tree, but then my Mom telling me I couldn’t open or play with them until after Christmas Mass, which was always one of the longest and included much after-Mass chit-chat (also often used back in the day) before we’d head home to open and play. Of course with roughly 6 months to go to the first real action, this is much worse but I am reminded of that feeling. I guess I never learned the patience Mom told me I had to have.

BART - thanks, but I have one and it is my three grandkids, so I’m good, thanks. If you haven’t already, check out the Bona Blog for Vaccaro’ magnificent wrap on the season, including recruiting.
